  • Patent number: 10211992
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a system and method of exchanging certificate pinning information between a server and client over an unprotected network by: obtaining a server certificate fingerprint to validate the server to the client during network communication; upon receipt of a request from the client, wrapping the server certificate fingerprint in an envelope that is encrypted using a hash of a password defined by the user and transmitted for storage on the server; and transmitting the envelope as part of a payload over the network to the client to enable the client to decrypt the envelope using the password and obtain the server certificate fingerprint for pinning to data elements transmitted to the server.

  • Patent number: 10055582
Abstract: An apparatus in one embodiment comprises a security appliance having a processor coupled to a memory. The security appliance is associated with at least one storage device and comprises a ransomware detector configured to generate a detection score for one or more sets of files stored in the storage device. The ransomware detector comprises a file analyzer configured to compare characteristics relating to a current state of the files with information stored in a file history database, and a detection score generator having a weighting module for applying weights to respective comparison results from the file analyzer in generating the detection score for the one or more sets of files. The ransomware detector is further configured to generate an alert if the detection score for the one or more sets of files exceeds a specified threshold. The alert may be transmitted by the security appliance to a network security system.

  • Patent number: 7970788
Abstract: A nonintrusive database access monitoring mechanism employs a hybrid approach that disallows, or blocks, the access mediums which are not feasible to intercept or analyze, as well as intercepting and analyzing access mediums for which interception and interrogation is available. Accordingly, various configurations provide the hybrid coverage approach to identifying access mediums, and either block or intercept the access attempts. In this manner, access mediums, such as interprocess communication (IPC) system calls, which may be efficiently intercepted and analyzed are captured and substantively processed, while other access mediums that are excessively burdensome or intrusive to capture are unselectively blocked from any communication, avoiding the need to analyze such access attempts.
