Patent number: 11639729Abstract: An explosively propelled piston assembly (EPPA) comprising an optional mounting plate; at least one lower cylinder fastener; a breach bolt with a base and an upward extending member; a breach plate having a plurality of surround openings; a breach gasket having a plurality of openings; a combustion piston with a base, a center opening, and upward extending side wall and a threaded opening; a piston dampening ring; a combustion cylinder having an upper section, a lower section, upward extending members and at least one ventilation bore; and a plurality of threaded plate fasteners. Once the EPPA is assembled, an explosive charge is placed into the EPPA. The charge is then activated which produces a contained explosive force that actuates the piston, causing the piston to extend outward, applying the force onto an object in contact with or adjacent to the EPPA. The force can be used to produce pushing, flipping, rolling or other movement of the object.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2021Date of Patent: May 2, 2023Inventor: Eric J. Allard

Publication number: 20140164069Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for determining a response to a sales event within a time period with information which spans across hierarchical entity boundaries of a company. The method detects a sales event and determines requirements of the sales event, parties involved and resource area of the sales event. If the resource area is not supported by the company, return to detecting another sales event without responding to the sales event. If the area is supported by the company, initiating a sales resource optimization to determine an optimized resource package to respond to the sales event and determining a likelihood of the company being awarded the sales event based on the optimized resource package. If the likelihood of the company being awarded the sales event based on the optimized resource package is greater than a predetermined probability, responding to the sales event with the optimized resource package.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2012Publication date: June 12, 2014Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: David J. Patent number: 7933975Abstract: A continually improving method for providing information to receivers which can include the step of receiving a request from a remotely located information requestor that specifies at least one information receiver. A transaction can be initiated to handle the request. The transaction can utilize previously recorded information to determine at least one adjustable condition to be used. The previously recorded information can be specific to the information requestor and/or the information receiver. The transaction can generate at least one result for the information receiver. The generated result can be tailored for information privileges granted to the information receiver by an information controller. The result can be conveyed to the information receiver. Feedback can be received concerning the result. At least one of the adjustable conditions can be adjusted in accordance with the feedback. The recorded information can be changed to include the adjusted condition.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2008Date of Patent: April 26, 2011Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David J. Patent number: 7853446Abstract: A method and system for generating codified electronic records. A textual commentary can be received from a user and, in real time, the textual commentary can be analyzed to identify a plurality of codes that potentially correlate to the textual commentary. The identified codes then can be presented to the user in real time. A first user input can be received to select at least one of the identified codes, and the selected code can be added to an electronic record.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2006Date of Patent: December 14, 2010Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: David J. Patent number: 7603563Abstract: Content such as computer software, data representing audiovisual works, and electronic documents can converted from a machine-bound state to user-bound state without modification to the content data itself. Instead, keys used to access the content are converted from the machine-bound state to the user-bound state. In particular, the keys are kept in a passport data structure which can represent either a machine-binding or a user-binding. A machine-bound passport can be upgraded to a user-bound passport without modifying the bound content. The private key of the machine-bound passport, in cleartext form, is included in the user-bound passport and encrypted using a user-supplied password to bind the private key to the user. In addition, private user information is collected and verified and included in the user-bound passport.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2004Date of Patent: October 13, 2009Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Steven T. Publication number: 20090061456Abstract: A cancer test having prognostic utility in predicting time to disease progression, overall survival, and response to therapy in patients with MBC based upon the presence and number of CTC's. The Cell SpotterĀ® System is used to enumerate CTC's in blood. The system immunomagnetically concentrates epithelial cells, fluorescently labels the cells and identifies and quantifies CTC's. The absolute number of CTC's detected in the peripheral blood tumor load is, in part, a factor in prediction of survival, time to progression, and response to therapy. The mean time to survival of patients depended upon a threshold number of 5 CTC's per 7.5 ml of blood. Detection of CTC's in metastatic cancer represents a novel prognostic factor in patients with metastatic cancers, suggests a biological role for the presence of tumor cells in the blood, and indicates that the detection of CTC's could be considered an appropriate surrogate marker for prospective therapeutic clinical trials.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2007Publication date: March 5, 2009Inventors: William J. Allard, Gerald V. Doyle, Daniel F. Hayes, Michael Craig Miller, Leon W.M.M Terstappen

Publication number: 20080026895Abstract: Chain-drive systems and methods of operation are described that allow chain travel along a non-linear path. In one example, the chain-drive system comprises a chain guide defining a channel having at least one non-linear region. A chain, sized to move within the channel, is driven by a drive sprocket. In one example, the non-linear region could redirect the chain 180 degrees and obviate the need for an idler sprocket. In another example, two channels are defined in the chain guide, including regions wherein the channels are parallel and regions where they have an angularly skewed relationship.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2007Publication date: January 31, 2008Applicant: Pearson Packaging SystemInventors: Michael J.
