  • Publication number: 20070280862
Abstract: A modular fluid processing architecture is provided that consists of a matrix of nested tubes secured between end block manifolds. Multiple chemical reactors may be housed in the annular spaces formed by the nesting of the tubes, and the processes may be integrated through flow splitting, mixing, switching and heat exchange in the manifolds. A flow switching system may provide the ability to switch the flows on or off in individual processors or in banks of such processors. The switching may effect the operation of some or all of the processes. Such switching can facilitate rapid and close following of demand for the processor output while allowing each processor to run within a range of high efficiency, since processors may be turned off or on in response to falling or rising demand for the output.

  • Publication number: 20070149359
Abstract: A brace compliance monitor is disclosed that includes a compliance sensor, a signal processor, and a display. Compliance data displayed on the display to provide the patient or subject with immediate compliance information on whether they have been wearing the brace for the specified period and in the specified manner. The brace compliance monitor may also include a secondary sensor such as a tilt sensor, a pressure sensor, a force sensor, an acceleration sensor, or a velocity sensor. The secondary sensors may provide additional compliance data to the patient and health care provider.

  • Publication number: 20060212088
Abstract: A method and device is disclosed for inhibiting bone growth, including inducing epiphysiodesis or hemiepiphysiodesis, using electrical current. The device includes a power source and one or a series of electrodes for applying a current sufficient to reduce or stop the growth of a bone to selected regions of the bone.

  • Publication number: 20060166157
Abstract: An orthodontic compliance monitor includes a sensor that senses when an orthodontic appliance is properly positioned and a processor that processes an output of the sensor and generates compliance data. A memory device stores compliance data and the processor generates the compliance data based on a compliance protocol. System and methods for orthodontic compliance are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050148599
Abstract: The present invention relates to chalcone and chalcone derivatives and analogs which are useful as angiogenesis inhibitors. The present compounds, which are inexpensive to synthesize, exhibit unexpectedly good activity as angiogenesis inhibitors. The present invention also relates to the use of chalcone and its analogs as antitumor/anticancer agents and to treat a number of conditions or disease states in which angiogenesis is a factor, incluidng angiongenic skin diseases such as psoriasis, acne, rosacea, warts, eczema, hemangiomas, lymphangiogenesis, among numerous others, as well as chronic inflammatory disease such as arthritis.

  • Publication number: 20050038071
Abstract: The present invention relates to solenopsin A and its analogs for use as angiogenesis inhibitors. The present compounds unexpectedly exhibit good activity as angiogenesis inhibitors, which find use as antitumor/anticancer agents as well as to treat a number of conditions or disease states in which angiogenesis is a factor.
