  • Patent number: 9629639
Abstract: An instrument for attachment to a bone is disclosed herein. The instrument comprises a body portion providing a cutting guide. At least one hole extends through the body portion. The at least one hole includes a first portion configured to engage a handle. The at least one hole further includes a second portion configured to pass a bone engaging member having a shaft, such as a bone pin or a bone screw. The second portion of the at least one hole is not configured to pass the handle. The handle and the bone engaging member may be provided in various configurations. For example, the handle may be releasably connected to the shaft in a cannulated relationship. In another embodiment, the handle is integrally connected to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 7261741
Abstract: A articulating hemiarthroplasty prosthesis (10) for use in arthroplasty is provided. The prosthesis includes a stem (12) for implantation at least partially within the medullary canal (14) of a long bone (16) and a collar (20). The collar (20) is operably associated with the stem (12) and extends outwardly therefrom. At least a portion of the collar (20) includes a resorbable material. The prosthesis includes a head (30) and a cup (46) for engagement with the head (30).

  • Patent number: 7214246
Abstract: A ball and socket joint prosthesis for use in arthroplasty is provided. The prosthesis includes a body for implantation at least partially within the medullary canal of a long bone. The long bone defines trabeculae in the proximal cancellous bone and lamellae in the cortical bone. The body includes a proximal portion thereof and a distal portion. The proximal portion has a medial periphery and includes surface features on a substantial portion of its proximal portion. The surface features are positioned to optimally transfer load from the prosthesis to the long bone.
