  • Patent number: 6125754
Abstract: The present invention is a channeled roller, used in association with flexible webs, which is provided with a pressurized gas flow, and which may be used to remove web wrinkles, clean webs and rollers, brake rollers, and heat, cool, moisturize, and dry webs. In operation, gas flow travels through the roller channels and applies non-contact forces to the web, thereby removing wrinkles and providing other types of beneficial web treatment.

  • Patent number: 5833171
Abstract: A rotating sleeve coaxially mounted upon an inner nonrotating pivoting sleeve by at least two rotary bearings on either side of a center mounted pivoting bearing assembly within the nonrotating pivoting sleeve supported by a stationary shaft. The nonrotating pivoting sleeve is balance-mounted in the center of the axis shaft with the pivoting bearing assembly. The pivoting bearing assembly permits a selected degree of lateral rotation in a range of from about 1 degree to about 10 degrees. As a web runs over the rotating sleeve any imbalance of lateral tension will cause the nonrotating pivoting sleeve to pivot at it's center with respect to the longitudinal axis of the shaft permitting the nonrotating pivoting sleeve and coaxial rotating sleeve to pivot upward on the side of least tension until the web tension is equalized across the coaxial rotating sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5833106
Abstract: An equalizing roll and web tracking apparatus to be used in manufacturing for providing equal tension across a web during winding operations such as used in polymer film applications, corrugators, paper machines, printing presses, cloth winders, and metal winding operations. The equalizing roll utilizes a common axis shaft mounted horizontally on two bearings or clamped rigid supports allowing for rotation. Mounted in the center of the axis shaft is a bearing assembly having convex and concave portions disposed within a sleeve. The bearing assembly is centrally mounted inside a hollow cylinder or roll machined to be in balance with respect to the centrally disposed bearing assembly. The mating of the concave and convex portions of the bearing permits a selected degree of lateral rotation in a range of from about 1 degree to about 10 degrees.

  • Patent number: 5030202
Abstract: Lavage apparatus comprises lavage fluid supply apparatus, a first catheter having a distal end for positioning in the uterus of an animal and a proximal end for communication with the lavage fluid supply, a pair of bilateral catheters connected to the proximal end of the first catheter for extending into respective horns of the uterus, and catheter locating means for locating the catheters in the uterus. The first catheter defines respective supply and drain lumens. The bilateral catheters each define respective lumens for fluid communication between the supply lumen and the interior of the respective uterine horn. The lavage fluid supply apparatus may include a pump for supplying lavage fluid under pressure. The supply may also include a lavage fluid storage tank for containing a volume of fluid, and a heater to maintain the temperature of the stored fluid within a predetermined range.
