  • Patent number: 5887382
Abstract: A seed mat provides an optional lower plastic mesh layer overlain by a lower scrim layer overlain by a seed layer optionally containing biodegradable beneficiating additives overlain by a fiber layer optionally overlain by an upper scrim layer with the fiber layer or upper scrim layer, if present, overlain by an upper plastic mesh layer. The mat is formed on a conveyor by 1) creating the fiber layer on the conveyor; 2) creating the upper scrim layer, if optioned, by placing dry cellulosic tissue over the fiber layer, wetting the tissue, applying vacuum beneath the fiber layer to consolidate the tissue on the underlying fiber layer and drying; and 3) extruding an upper plastic mesh layer on the fiber layer or the upper scrim layer if present.

  • Patent number: 5331686
Abstract: A flat elongate sweat band having end portions releasably and adjustably fastenable to each other to form an annular configuration for use. The sweat band provides a thin tubular cover defining an internal chamber carrying a perspiration absorbing pad. The cover is compound with an annularly interior portion that is perspiration permeable and an annularly exterior portion that is perspiration impermeable which may carry patternation for aesthetic purposes or alphanumeric characters for advertising. One side of the cover carries an elongate strip of elastomeric material that shrinks after placement to provide elastic tension to aid positional maintenance of the band during use. The absorbent pad is formed of a mixture of linted fiber and water absorbing polymeres. The band structure particularly adapts the device for formation by continuous manufacturing processes which provide economic parameters allowing single use, throw away type use.

  • Patent number: 5228582
Abstract: A vertically oriented, peripherally defined, and rotatably mounted column defines a plurality of spaced sets of similar spaced holes to receive and support the shanks of elongate fasteners. The column carries, between sets of spaced holes, a plurality of "L" shaped brackets, each having upturned support arms spaced radially outward from the column to receive and support a plurality of annular washers or nuts thereon. The column is rotatably mounted on a bracket for support on either horizontal or vertical surfaces. The column supports fasteners for sorting, display, and storage and may be used as a merchandising container for such products. A second species provides a plurality of cylinders that are rotatably supported in spaced circular array on a medial stand that provides additional means for storage of a stock of fastening devices.
