  • Publication number: 20070161383
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for locating a wireless device especially useful for locating a cellular telephone making a call from an unknown location. The call may be a request for emergency assistance, or for location-based commercial services, for example. Various embodiments may optionally include a mobile location component, a cellular telephone enabled to chirp-on-demand, and/or an interferometer link. A mobile location component may include a directional antenna. The directional antenna may be mounted on an antenna boom on top of an emergency vehicle, for example. The mobile location component may alternately or additionally comprise a hand-held unit. System elements may cooperate to generate a situation awareness map or other display. The mobile location component may be moved in the general direction of a first location calculation associated with a first circular error of probability.

  • Publication number: 20060256716
Abstract: An electronic communication control device suitable for embedding into a network interface card or a line card of a switch or router. The electronic communication control device is capable of communications in multiple protocols. The processing architecture of the electronic communication control device may be adapted for any communications protocol and may be well suited for Internet protocol. The electronic communication control device may perform protocol translation, for example, between IPv4 and IPv6. An exemplary embodiment of the electronic communication control device includes a parallel processing chipset operating on multiple busses with embedded software. The electronic communication control device provides a hardware architecture upon which embedded software may operate to provide services, such as, for example, system control, packet analysis, packet filtering, translation services, switching, routing and/or multiplexing control.

  • Publication number: 20060256814
Abstract: An ad hoc network formed of electronic communication control devices for scanning each packet that crosses an interface and allowing a packet through the network interface only if the packet meets policy criteria, otherwise rejecting the packet. The electronic communication control devices have a unique communication method that exists between electronic communication control device chipsets. This method is transparent to other devices on the network so that only an electronic communication control device can communicate with another electronic communication control device. This gives a network interface adapter equipped with an electronic communication control device the ability to form an ad hoc network and communicate with other interface adapters and port line cards throughout the ad hoc network. This ad hoc network allows electronic communication control device equipped network interface units to promulgate a communication policy between units.

  • Publication number: 20050128689
Abstract: A method and apparatus for housing an electronic device are provided. The apparatus includes an environmentally sealed chamber to protect the electronic device from harsh environments. The environmental conditions of the chamber are controllable using environmental controls which are controlled by digital processor with a stored program coupled with sensors. The digital processor may also control the application of power from an external interface. The apparatus also includes a self-contained power source running from a primary fuel. A control system is provided for managing power production and energy storage to maintain continuity of environmental conditions.
