  • Patent number: 5467565
Abstract: This patent discloses a method and apparatus for activation of services in a concrete floor of an office building from below floor slab distribution systems. Void-forming boxes that are secured to a conventional metal deck sheet and surrounded by the concrete floor slab provide chambers in which in-floor activations are mounted. An insulating block in the void-forming box restores fire resistance, prior to installation of an activation kit, that is lost by displacement of concrete by the void-forming box. An in-floor activation kit may be installed within the void-forming box and connected to a below floor slab distribution system through an activation opening cut in the metal deck sheet. Connection hardware is secured to the metal deck sheet for connection to a conventional below-floor slab service distribution system providing communication from the interior of the void-forming box to the below-floor slab service distribution system.

  • Patent number: 5468908
Abstract: This patent discloses a floor box for use with in-floor service distribution systems. The floor box defines wiring compartments in which connectors may be mounted and is constructed so that conductors can be routed through the floor box from one wiring compartment to another. The floor box also accepts barriers that are selectively positioned in the floor box to separate conductors in separate wiring compartments. The floor box accepts connectors of different services is constructed to facilitate assembly of connectors and mounting hardware as well as routing conductors through the floor box.

  • Patent number: 5285009
Abstract: Two-part floor box disassembled at job site so one part can be connected to conduit without interference from the other part and then the parts reassembled for the pour. Parts are preferably a stamped sheet metal base and a plastic housing which can be slipped into and out of a cavity in base. Radially extending wiring compartments provide for feed thru and for feeding power from outside to the inside of the box structured so any combination of power and communication can be employed.

  • Patent number: 5039827
Abstract: An elongated power compartment to be disposed inside of a trenchduct. The compartment having a bottom wall and two side walls. Centrally of the compartment, an opening is formed in the bottom. On each side wall and centrally of the compartment there is a downwardly extending barrier. The bottom opening is to provide access to a power cell in a underfloor raceway and the barriers function to prevent the passing of power cable out of the space beneath the compartment into the low tension side of the trenchduct. The bottom opening is in communication with the raceway valleys.

  • Patent number: 4986045
Abstract: A cellular raceway constructed of roll formed pieces all welded together including a base member, an upper member, and a barrier. The base member has a center section and outboard sections with ribs respectively connecting the center section to the outboard sections. The upper member has a center section disposed over the base center section, outboard sections respectively disposed over the base outboard sections together with outboard walls extending toward and welded to the base outboard sections. The barrier may comprise angle pieces or a hat-shaped piece. The barrier provides electrical separation for the forming of power and communication cells.

  • Patent number: 4965972
Abstract: A combined deck and cellular raceway unit. The deck has at least a pair of parallel extending crests, each with a top member and a pair of webs together with a valley between the crests. The cellular raceway is formed by an assembly including a hat-shaped member mounted on a base, the assembly being placed inside one of the crests with its top wall engaging the underside of the crests and its base extending across the open end of the crest and welded to the deck unit.
