A high pressure die cast object is obtained and solution heat treated to above 700° F. for at least 2 hours at pressures between 0.5 and 35 KSI or at any pressure or range of pressures therebetween. This method of solution heat treatment with pressure reduces and/or eliminates blistered defects on the high pressure die cast object. Patent number: 9878367Abstract: Congruent melting salt alloys for use as salt cores in high pressure die casting of metallic alloys for the production of complex metallic parts. Congruent melting salt alloys provide mechanical advantages in the high pressure die casting of both aluminum and magnesium alloys. Salt cores may be used to make complex high pressure die casting parts such as internal passages in a closed deck engine block. The congruently melting salt alloy is cast into a shape of a desired salt core. The cast salt core of the congruently melting slat alloy is placed into a high pressure die casting mold for a complex object. Molten metal is introduced into the high pressure die casting mold to form the complex part. Patent number: 9650699Abstract: A hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloy is disclosed herein containing 18-20% by weight silicon, 0.03-0.20% by weight strontium and the balance aluminum, and alternatively with 3.0-6.0% by weight nickel. The alloy is substantially free of copper and manganese, but for any impurities that may exist. The alloy may also be substantially free of iron, but up to 1.2% by weight iron is permitted in certain embodiments. A more narrow strontium content of 0.05-0.10% by weight, may be used and the alloy may further include 0.3-1.2% by weight magnesium. In some embodiments 0.1-2.0% by weight nickel may be substituted with 0.1-2.0% by weight cobalt.
