  • Publication number: 20040217182
Abstract: An electronic control (8) is shown adapted for use with gas furnaces which controls function and speed(s) of an induced draft motor (44), an igniter source (13), gas valve(s) (14), and function and speed(s) of a blower motor (21) based on inputs from a room thermostat, various sensor and safety devices, and proper sequence/position/change of position timing of these inputs. The control is capable of detecting and saving for recall specific errors and faults that occur while in service. The control can communicate warnings, faults, and errors, as well as safety lock-out conditions in various ways including a Light Emitting Diode (LED) (9), as a generic fault condition through a set of dry contacts (45a), or as very specific fault conditions through a communications interface (H4). The control provides other benefits to the installer, occupants of the space, and service technicians including selectable igniter warm-up times, user selectable fan On speed and blower delay-off times.

  • Patent number: 6438218
Abstract: A public switched telephone network utilizing program controlled switching systems controlled by common channel interoffice signaling (CCIS) and preferably an advanced intelligent network (AIN) CCIS network is arranged in an architecture to provide a methodology for facilitating telephone use of the Internet by customers on an impromptu basis. Provision is made to permit a caller to set-up and carry out a telephone call over the Internet from telephone station to telephone station without access to computer equipment and without the necessity of maintaining a subscription to any Internet service. Billing may be accomplished on a per call basis. The calls may be inter and intra LATA, region or state and may be nationwide. Usage is made of CCIS signaling to set up the call and establish the necessary Internet connections and addressing. Calls may be made from telephone station to telephone station, from voice capable computer to voice capable computer, or from telephone to computer or computer to telephone.

  • Patent number: 6292479
Abstract: A voice call is transported through diverse network paths including a switched telephone network and a wide area data internetwork, for example, the Internet. In routing the call, common channel signalling is used to provide data identifying a calling subscriber line from a calling PSTN, which information can then be transported through the separate data internetwork to the destination PSTN, at which the data is then extracted and sent to the called subscriber line while completing routing of the call. A route for the call is established at gateways connected to the data internetwork at the interface points with the calling and destination PSTNs, calling subscriber line information and dialed digit information being conveyed to the gateways. The destination end gateway initiates a call connection to the calling subscriber line via the destination PSTN to complete routing of the call, while supplying identification of the calling subscriber line in a form recognized as such by the called PSTN.

  • Patent number: 5708961
Abstract: A digital network delivers multiplexed channels to a customer premises. Each multiplexed channel contains a digitally multiplexed data stream including digitized broadband information relating to a number of programs. At the customer premise, a shared processing system includes several channel selectors and program selectors. Each channel selector selects one of the multiplexed channels, and each program selector selects digitized broadband information relating to a selected program from a selected channel. A multiplexer combines the selected digitized broadband information from the program selectors into a transport stream. A transmitter system, for example comprising a digital modulator, a spread spectrum modulator and a broadcast antenna, provides a wireless broadcast of the digital transport stream throughout the customer premise and possibly one or more near by premises.

  • Patent number: 5688129
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly 2 for use with a printed circuit board 6 includes an electrical connector 4, such as a standard miniature ribbon connector, and an injection molded lead positioning comb 48. Cantilever beams 54 in the lead positioning comb 48 form lead receiving slots 52 into which terminal leads 40 extending at right angles from terminals 26 inserted into a connector housing 8 precisely position rows of leads 40 for insertion into printed circuit board holes or on surface mount pads. The slots 52 on the lead positioning comb 48 face the connector housing 8 and the comb 48 is snapped to the housing from the rear. As the comb is snapped to the housing, the terminal leads enter the slots. Carrier strips 46 join terminals in each row during insertion of the leads into the slots to prevent deflection. The carrier strips 46 are removed after assembly of the comb 48 to the housing 4.

  • Patent number: 5514306
Abstract: A process for reclaiming scrap UO.sub.2 materials yields a high-sinter-density pellet. The scrap is oxidized in a high-temperature furnace to produce U.sub.3 O.sub.8. The U.sub.3 O.sub.8 particles from the oxidation furnace are reacted with nitric acid to produce a solution of uranyl nitrate that meets the concentration and free acid requirements of the ADU precipitation process. A controlled two-stage ADU precipitation process is carried out to produce ADU particles with a size and morphology that leads to high-surface-area UO.sub.2 powder with excellent sintered pellet ceramic characteristics. After calcination and hydrogen reduction to UO.sub.2, the high-surface-area UO.sub.2 powder is passivated.

  • Patent number: 5414343
Abstract: A micro-processor controlled apparatus for testing a network cabling. The apparatus is permanently installed at the network cabling site. The micro-processor controls a driver which sequentially provides a voltage carrying current to the individual conductors of each cable in the network. In this manner each conductor of each cable is tested. Hard-wiring and a shorting bar which disengages upon installation of a terminal apparatus provide the voltage carrying current with at least one current path at a remote network port. The voltage carrying current is returned from the remote network port on at least one conductor coupled to a receiver. The receiver samples a plurality of conductors, preferably for evidence of the voltage. In this manner, the receiver samples for the parallel return of a digital word. If the returned digital word agrees with an expected digital word stored in the memory of the micro-processor, an indicating device will signal proper wiring of the tested cable.

  • Patent number: 5179753
Abstract: A jet thruster for attachment to the outlet end of a high-liquid-pressure hose for use, among other things, in clearing drain lines or the like. The jet thruster comprises a body formed of at least hemi-spherical shape about a fore-and-aft axis that is substantially an extension of the hose. The hemi-spherical shape gives the frontal area of rearwardly and radially outwardly sloping configuration over which liquid jets stream in close proximity to that area to augment the forward thrust action against the walls of the drain line which facilitates advance of the thruster through the drain line. Ahead of the frontal area a spinner head is coaxially journalled for rotation via thrust exerted by liquid existing laterally from another jet in the spinner head. The spinner head jet(s) further create forces that are utilized for clearing the drain line of sludge, roots and the like. Further, the spinner head may carry blades or the like for increasing the clearing action of the thruster.
