Patent number: 5171437Abstract: An aquarium filter which is positioned within the aquarium tank on top of and in direct contact with a means of support so that the filter is upwardly disposed from the bottom of the aquarium tank to form a fluid chamber between said means and the bottom of the aquarium tank. A section of permeable synthetic filter material interposes a lower filter member and an upper filter member and the whole thereof is encased in a section of synthetic screen material. A conventional pump assembly is provided as a means for recirculating water through the aquarium filter whereby waste material and debris are collected within said filter and eliminated by natural decay. The movement of water through the aquarium filter also causes air bubbles to collect within said filter thus providing a source for continual passive aeration of the aquarium water.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1991Date of Patent: December 15, 1992Inventor: Orman J. Fletcher, Sr.

Patent number: 5157879Abstract: A device particularly suited for sharpening broadhead arrows and having sharpening surfaces which are curved in the direction the broadhead travels as it is sharpened. In a preferred embodiment, the sharpener comprises two sharpening surfaces to sharpen broadhead arrows and a third cylindrical sharpening surface which can be used to sharpen other discrete cutting elements. Each broadhead sharpening surface is formed as two sections which are curved about an axis perpendicular to the direction of travel of the arrow blades so that only one line of contact is formed between a blade and its respective sharpening section, resulting in even sharpening along all the points on a blade.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1990Date of Patent: October 27, 1992Assignee: Fletcher Engineering, Inc.Inventor: William J. Patent number: 5148996Abstract: An ice crushing apparatus for use in combination with an ice making machine which has an ice storage bin. The ice crusher includes a plurality of rotatable blades which are mounted on a motor-driven shaft and which pass, preferably in sequence, through slots in a grate, for crushing the ice in an ice crushing zone. A mechanism is provided for bypassing the ice crusher and dropping ice directly from the ice maker to the ice storage bin. A mechanism is also provided for moving the grate to change the size of crushed ice particles. In one embodiment, a device is provided for breaking apart large sheets or other chunks of ice before they reach the ice crushing zone. An electronic control system provides ice crusher operation only when ice is harvested in the ice making machine.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1990Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Clawson Machine CompanyInventors: Charles J. Patent number: 4940948Abstract: A circuit for recovering clock information from an incoming data signal preferably in NRZ1 form, the circuit including a VCO (18) providing a clock signal (CK) to four integrate/hold circuits (I1to I4) which receive an incoming data signal, the integrate/hold circuits providing an error signal to the VCO (18) for adjusting the phase thereof to that of the incoming data signal, the integrate/hold circuits being sequenced by logic (10) to provide within each period of the clock signal three functions: (1) an integration of the incoming data signal in every bit period in which a voltage transition occurs, (2) a holding of the integrated value within a subsequent bit period or periods, and (3) a resetting of the integrated value following the next voltage transition in the incoming data signal, whereby the held integrated value, whose magnitude is dependent of the phase of the clock signal relative to the phase of the incoming data signal, provides said error signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1989Date of Patent: July 10, 1990Assignee: Plessey Overseas LimitedInventors: Peter G.
