  • Publication number: 20240365787
Abstract: A method of reducing an amount of a Candida auris biofilm on a surface, including, contacting a composition with the surface, where the composition reduces the amount of the Candida auris biofilm by at least 50% 24 hours after contacting the composition with the surface. The composition includes silicalite, and silver nanoparticles isomorphously substituted in a matrix of the silicalite, where an atomic ratio of Si to Ag is in a range of 25:1 to 1:1. The particles of the composition have a spherical shape and an average size of 400-800 nm.

  • Publication number: 20240132962
Abstract: One aspect of the invention is a method for amplifying alpha globin genes HBA1, HBA2 and HBA12 in a single PCR tube to determine an HBA genotype of a subject. This method employs five primers selected to accurate and sensitively identify the HBA1, HBA2, and HBA12, a gene found at a higher frequency in citizens of Saudi Arabia, by accurately annealing to nucleic acids in a biological sample and simultaneously amplifying sequences encoding the alpha globin genes. This invention includes a procedure and required reagents for the amplification of alpha globin genes in a single PCR tube.

  • Publication number: 20240052417
Abstract: A non-invasive method for determining fetal gender prior to the second trimester using multiplex polymerase chain reaction to identify target segments of the SRY, DAZ2 and TSPY1 genes which are located on the Y chromosome of a male fetus. A kit for determining gender comprising primers that amplify target segments of the SRY, DAZ2 and TSPY1 genes.
