  • Publication number: 20160003158
Abstract: A fluid dispensing apparatus that may be additive manufactured as one unitary piece and may be a fuel injector for a gas turbine engine includes a radial displacement bellows having an outer surface that faces and may be exposed to a surrounding environment and an interior surface that faces and may define at least in-part a flowpath extending along a centerline. The radial displacement bellows is constructed and arranged to move between an expanded state when a pressure differential between the environment and the flowpath is low to a restricted state when the pressure differential is high.

  • Publication number: 20160003380
Abstract: A flowpath assembly has a first conduit defining a flowpath radially inward, and a second conduit spaced radially outward from the first conduit. A void defined between the first and second conduits contains an insulating material that may have a greater porosity than the first and second conduits. The assembly may be additive manufactured generally as one unitary piece with the raw material of the conduits being melted and solidified on a slice-by-slice basis and the insulating material being selectively bypassed by an energy gun of an additive manufacturing system.

  • Publication number: 20160003157
Abstract: A tube assembly is additive manufactured as one unitary piece and has a first tube that co-extends with and is surrounded by a second tube. An annular void may be defined by and located between the first and second tubes for insulating a fluid flowing through the first tube. The void may be sealed and under a negative atmospheric pressure for enhancing insulating properties.

  • Publication number: 20130249342
Abstract: A multilayer laminated rotor mountable on a shaft for rotation relative to a stator of a rotary electric machine arrangement has a plurality of laminas joined together to form the rotor and voids for receiving magnets. The rotor has an annular section, extending between a shaft opening for receiving the shaft and a radially outer circumferential rotor surface, which includes an undulating series of the voids in void groups extending from the radially outer circumferential rotor surface inwardly toward the shaft opening and then back toward the radially outer circumferential rotor surface. A pair of distal voids in each void group, together with distal voids of adjacent void groups, define gaps separating adjacent arc sections of the radially outer circumferential rotor surface. Such an arrangement forces the structural support to be cantilevered, improving rotor integrity, and, due to a reduction in magnetic leakage pathways, provides improved electrical performance.

  • Publication number: 20110101627
Abstract: A gasket (10) has a retainer (30) comprising a plurality of balls encapsulated within a matrix of polymeric material (e.g., rubber). The balls are made of hard material (e.g., metal, hard plastic, ceramic, etc.) and prevent over-compression during gasket installation. The polymeric matrix provides the gasket (10) with a two-dimensional grid of joints or elbows, allowing it to conform to an almost infinite number of different flange surfaces. The matrix can be made of the same material as, and molded at the same time as, the gasket's sealing elements (40, 50, 60).

  • Patent number: 7775043
Abstract: A system for controlling boost pressure at various different altitudes of operation of a turbo charged internal combustion engine includes a wastegate valve, an actuator, and a controller. Signals delivered from an engine speed sensor, a boost pressure transducer, a barometric pressure sensor, and a turbocharger speed sensor are processed in the controller. A control signal delivered from the controller to the actuator controls the position of the wastegate valve, bypass of exhaust gasses, and the speed of the turbocharger. The controller is configured to compare the turbocharger speed to a predetermined threshold value and determine the control signal based on the comparison.
