  • Patent number: 6509960
Abstract: A method and apparatus for endpoint detection for the stripping of a particular material, such as photo-resist material, from a substrate surface. A beam of light is projected onto the substrate surface and the fluoresced and/or reflected light intensity at a particular wavelength band is measured by a light detector. The light intensity is converted to a numerical value and transmitted electronically to a control mechanism which determines the proper disposition of the substrate. The control mechanism controls the cessation of the stripping process and may control a substrate-handling device which sequentially transfers substrates to and from a stripping chamber.

  • Patent number: 6179448
Abstract: An apparatus and method for automatically tuning the power and the intensity of light supplied to an illuminated object to some desired values, the apparatus including a light source positionable along at least a first axis with respect to a reflector, a drive assembly for positioning the light source in response to an intensity of light measured by a light meter positioned to sample light reflected from the object along a reflected light path, and a diaphragm having an adjustable aperture for controlling the amount of light supplied to the object. The light source is automatically positioned along the first axis to achieve a maximum intensity of light on the object. The light source may then be automatically positioned along a second axis and a third axis to achieve respective maximum light intensities on the object.

  • Patent number: 5513443
Abstract: A dryer for use in an asphalt plant for heating and drying virgin aggregate and also pre-heating reclaimed asphalt products (RAP). A drying drum cylinder having a burner at one end heats and dries virgin aggregate traveling therethrough. A second cylinder near the burner surrounds the drying drum and creates an annular cavity. RAP is introduced and travels through the annular cavity and exits adjacent the drying drum aggregate exit opening. Heat given off by the drying drum increases the temperature within the annular cavity and heats the RAP traveling therethrough. Heated aggregate and RAP first come in contact with one another after exiting the annular cavity and the drying drum and are, thereafter, delivered to a mixing drum.

  • Patent number: 4655191
Abstract: A wire saw machine having a wire supply source providing a plurality of strands of wire results in a wire saw system having parallel wires. The wire supply source feed spindle holds a supply source at a slight angle advance to allow the wire to transfer from the supply source to a grooved wire guide in a parallel manner. Two moveable wire guides are used to impart a back and forth motion to the wire over the cutting area and at the same time serve as an intermediate storage area for the wire being used in the cutting area. The wire supply source includes a plurality of individually rotatable wire reels. A friction disc is located between each of the individual wire reels and is held fixed with respect to the spindle.

  • Patent number: 4536113
Abstract: In a reversible power tool, such as an electric drill, a clutch mechanism is coupled to selectively connect and disconnect a chuck jaw reciprocating means to advance and retract the jaws of a chuck or to allow the chuck jaw reciprocating means to be carried in rotation with the chuck jaws. According to the improvement the clutch mechanism is decoupled as the chuck jaws approach a position of complete retraction, despite actuation of a coupling mechanism which would otherwise prevent the chuck jaw reciprocating means and the chuck jaws from turning together in rotation. The decoupling mechanism prevents damage to the chuck which occurs in prior devices when the chuck jaws are driven longitudinally beyond the designed limit for complete chuck jaw retraction. Also, an annular workpiece holder is releasably secured to the chuck to hold a workpiece in axial alignment with the tool drive shaft to safeguard against accidental injury to the fingers of an individual operating the tool.

  • Patent number: 4526497
Abstract: A reversible drill, equipped with a chuck having a jaw guide, chuck jaws constrained by the jaw guide for radial advancement and retraction, and chuck jaw propulsion means for driving the chuck jaws in advancement and retraction, is equipped with a manually actuable clutch for easing the chuck jaw propulsion means into and out of engagement with the drill housing to, respectively, prevent and allow relative rotation between the jaw guide and the chuck jaw propulsion means. When the drill motor is driven in one direction of rotation, the chuck jaw propulsion means is immobilized relative to the drill housing and the chuck jaws are advanced radially toward each other to grip a drill bit. When the housing and chuck jaw propulsion means are eased together and the drill motor is driven in the opposite direction, the chuck jaw propulsion means is immobilized and draws the chuck jaws apart as the jaw guide rotates to release a drill bit.
