  • Patent number: 4583925
Abstract: A suction pump which includes a valving member including a one way check valve, a cylinder and sliding cup seal connected to said check valve so that a negative pressure can be developed by the pump. The valving member includes a valving seat, a valving ball, and a plurality of biasing leaflets. The valving body less the ball is preferably formed as an integral elastomeric body. The seal makes a sliding seal in the direction of evacuating movement, and deflects to permit air to by-pass it in the other direction.

  • Patent number: 4555833
Abstract: A device for removing plugs from plugged tubes in a steam generator including a frame having a substantially flat plate, with a hollow drill bit mounted thereon and movable generally perpendicularly with respect thereto from a storage position to an operating position. An elongated retaining pin extends through the hollow drill bit and therebeyond having threads on one end thereof for attachment to the plug to be drilled. Actuating means moves the drill bit between the storage position thereof and the operating position thereof, motor means is mounted on the frame for rotating the drill bit. An air-water mixture is introduced near where the drill bit meets the plug to be drilled, the water being present in an amount of about one-half volume percent, and a vacuum is used to collect and remove the air-water mixture and any debris entrained therewith due to drilling the associated plug.

  • Patent number: 4449387
Abstract: A tube bending machine with rotary arms carrying a bending moment roller and a bending fulcrum roller has arm shafts mounted for axial movement. The arms are rotated for the tube bending action, whereby the bend so made in the tube lies in a predetermined non-planar arc. The arm shafts are turned by a pinion engaged by a rack and are moved axially by suitable pins engaged in cam slots with the rack and the cam slots all being moved simultaneously. In order to retain the tube in proper location or position during the trusts of non-planar arc bending there may be included more than one roller.

  • Patent number: 4302666
Abstract: A position control system is disclosed for aiming a mobile rocket launcher having positionable axes in the azimuth and elevation planes. The control system has a separate control subsystem for each axis of movement, and each such subsystem includes an initial aiming signal processor providing a course positioning function and a reaiming signal processor providing a fine positioning function. The initial aiming processor receives signals representing a desired position (DP), a feedback signal representing the actual position (AP) updated at predetermined sampling intervals, and an error signal (E) representing the difference between DP and AP. From signals representing AP and E, and a constant representing the stopping time of the launcher mechanism for a given control axis, the initial aiming processor produces a predicted position signal (PP) which represents the position that the launcher will reach upon termination of the actuator drive for that axis.

  • Patent number: 4276141
Abstract: A solid state electrode for use in determining ion concentration in an aqueous solution comprising an electrically conductive element; a first lipophilic-hydrophobic (hereinafter referred to as LH) layer in intimate contact with the element; and a second LH layer in intimate contact with the first layer. The first LH layer comprises an adhesive, LH polymer having an intrinsic viscosity of from about 0.4 to about 0.9 ml/g; and an LH plasticizer. The second LH layer comprises a LH polymer having an intrinsic viscosity of from about 1 to about 1.5 ml/g; an LH plasticizer, and an LH ion-selective ligand of the ion to be determined.Preferably, the first LH layer further comprises an LH charge carrier. As used herein, the term "lipophilic-hydrophobic (LH)" denotes an organic solvent soluble-water insoluble substance.

  • Patent number: 4266106
Abstract: A load position sensing device for load carriers, such as the fork lift of a fork lift truck, wherein the load carrier includes vertical support means and horizontal load-carrying means extending forwardly therefrom, comprising a plate mounted pivotally onto the vertical support means of said load carrier and movable toward and away from the vertical support means in the direction in which the horizontal load-carrying means extends, spring means biasing the plate away from the vertical support means, position sensing means to detect when the load is within a proper range or too close to the vertical support means, and indicator means to communicate the position sensed to an operator of the load carrier whereby potential damage to loads of frangible goods is minimized.

  • Patent number: 4113408
Abstract: A wind operated generator is disclosed herein having a stationary frame or base rotatably supporting at least four sets of pivotal blades intended to be driven by impinging wind currents. Each set of blades operate in unison for opening and closing air passageways between adjacent ones of the blades as the sets of blades rotate about a common vertical axis. A wind direction sensor is provided which moves into the direction of the wind and electro-mechanical or electrical interface networks operably couple the wind direction sensor to the respective sets of blades whereby the blades are responsive to wind direction so as to be properly feathered to propel the sets of blades. By employment of the interface network, those blades that are in position to actuate or rotate the windmill will receive the full force of the wind while other blades which are not in a position to accomplish the proper operation will be turned to permit passage of the wind thereby.

  • Patent number: 4023694
Abstract: A gas tank-carrying trailer consisting of a wheeled U-shaped main frame with hitch means and a supporting dolly at its bight portion. The rear portion of the main frame carries an arched tank-lifting frame structure provided with winch means for lifting a tank above the level of the main frame. The arms of the main frame have spaced pairs of positioning lugs, and load bunks are provided with spaced right-angled plate-like vertical end portions supportable on the arms between the positioning lugs. The positioning lugs act to positively hold the bunks in transverse supporting positions when the tank is lowered onto the bunks. The tank is held down on the bunks by straps or chains whose ends are hooked to cross rods connecting the plate-like end portions of the bunks.
