  • Patent number: 4450653
Abstract: A knife sharpener, comprising a sharpening rod mounted in a base, includes a first expandable position for storage as a compact unit.Wing members project laterally from a central member to provide stability during use, but are retractable into a cutout in the central member for compact storage. The wing members are drivingly connected to a support block for mounting the rod, so that when the wing members are positioned for use, the rod is rotated to an upright position. However, when the wing members are retracted, the rod rotates to a horizontal position, within a recess in the central member, for storage. The knife sharpener includes a rod mounting assembly comprising a sleeve, having a diameter larger than the rod, to permit the rod to be inclined, in any direction, at a predetermined angle relative to the sleeve. This predetermined angle is adjustable by rotating a plug, threadedly mounted in the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4155721
Abstract: A dual bonding process to make single layered tools wherein a metallic workpiece is pre-etched so as to form cavities in the surface of the workpiece for individually receiving diamond or other abrasive particles to be bonded thereto. The diamond particles are uniformly deposited and densely bonded to the surface of said metallic workpiece by a metallic bonding matrix applied in a first plating bath. A second selective plating of metal applied in a second plating bath more securely bonds the diamonds to the workpiece and provides the workpiece with a predetermined hardness for any selected grinding or cutting application. In order to make multilayered tools, this dual bonding process may be repeated for each layer applied.

  • Patent number: 4079552
Abstract: A diamond bonding process wherein a metallic workpiece is pre-etched and thereafter diamond is uniformly and densely bonded to the surface of said metallic workpiece in a nickel matrix. A novel second plating of nickel metal more securely bonds the diamonds to the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4010661
Abstract: A hand-held guide for use in combination with a file for sharpening chain saw cutting teeth, the guide holding said file in axial compression to permit mounting of said file at the axial extremes thereof and to facilitate rotation of said file relative said guide during use. A portion of said guide is designed, when said file is axially compressed in said guide, to abut the cylindrical wall of said file throughout a substantial portion of the file's length, and this same portion is formed as a guide designed to accurately locate the file relative a chain saw cutting tooth, and to provide a gage for determining the proper height of the depth gage portion of chain saw teeth.
