  • Publication number: 20240104843
Abstract: In some embodiments, a computer system facilitates depth conflict mitigation for a virtual object that is in contact with one or more physical objects in a three-dimensional environment by reducing visual prominence of one or more portions of the virtual object. In some embodiments, a computer system adjusts the visibility of one or more virtual objects in a three-dimensional environment by applying a visual effect to the one or more virtual objects in response to detecting one or more portions of a user. In some embodiments, a computer system modifies visual prominence in accordance with a level of engagement with a virtual object.

  • Patent number: 6481213
Abstract: The present invention is directed to method and apparatuses for modifying the air of a localized zone to suit personal comfort. This invention includes the heating or cooling of the air in the localized zone with a novel apparatus and inhibiting the concurrent release of byproduct air at undesirable temperatures while using a heat pump. The apparatus includes a thermal storage mass that provides a reservoir for the undesirable heating or cooling effects for later restoration. This restoration would occur at a predetermined time in predetermined amounts, typically when the localized zone is unoccupied.

  • Patent number: 6058780
Abstract: A capacitive pressure sensor capsule has a housing with a ceramic cover sealingly attached to a ceramic base that defines an interior chamber. The sensing medium enters the chamber through an inlet port. A glass sensor is attached to an integral pillar that extends from the housing into the chamber. A conducting member extends through the pillar into the housing and carries the signals from the sensor. The combination of the glass sensor and ceramic housing provides high accuracy over a wide range of temperature, because the thermal coefficient of expansion of glass and ceramic are similar. Hermetic sealing of the sensor electrical circuitry ensures long term immunity from the sensed environment.

  • Patent number: 5335272
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an arrangement for supplying direct current to a telephone line. According to the invention, the current supply characteristic is programmable. The arrangement comprises a direct current supply circuit which detects the line voltage and supplies a line current in accordance with a preprogrammed current supply characteristic. The circuit includes a first more high-voltage part and a second more low-voltage part, in which programming of the current supply characteristic takes place. For the purpose of achieving programming, a first resistive component having a programmable resistance is arranged essentially parallel with a capacitor in the second part. The first resistive component determines the supply resistance of the circuit for low line currents.

  • Patent number: 5229306
Abstract: A method for gettering metal atoms (28) from a subsequently contaminated silicon substrate (12) is disclosed. A smoothed or polished first surface (16) has a thin germanium silicon layer (20) deposited thereon. A silicon layer (24) is deposited onto the germanium silicon layer (20) to seal the layer (20) between the substrate (12) and the silicon layer (24). Electronic components (26) are fabricated on a second surface (14) of the silicon substrate (12) which causes the metal atoms (28) to contaminate the substrate as a result of contamination in normal processing (12). As the substrate (12) is heated during normal processing of the devices, metal atoms (28) in the substrate of a result of contamination, diffuse in the substrate (12) to the misfit dislocations at the germanium-silicon (20)/silicon interface.

  • Patent number: 5135296
Abstract: Eyeglasses including lens and frame portions with a holder in holding engagement with the lens. The frame portions are shaped of a wire material with the holder including looped bent wire portions projecting forwardly of the frame portions. The lens include a mounting hole or recess for receiving the loop bent wire portions, with the hole or recess being of an oblong shape corresponding to a cross-sectional shape of the loop bent wire portions so as to be operable to receive the respective loop bent wire portions with the loop bent wire portions resiliently squeezed between opposed narrow end portions of the oblong holes or recesses thereby insuring a firm yet releasable fixation between the lens and the frame portions.
