    Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a method of and apparatus for applying a weld bead upon a surface of a chilled white iron product by (a) moving a surface of the product along a predetermined path of travel in a desired direction, (b) directing a stream of air upstream of a weld point against the surface which is to be welded, (c) forming a continuous weld bead downstream of the stream of air, (d) directing a stream of water at a portion of the formed weld bead located downstream of the weld point, and (e) immersing the weld bead essentially immediately upon its formation.
