  • Patent number: 6314437
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided that enhance file system calls to a file system structure of an operating system. In particular, file system calls can be enhanced to provide real-time secure file deletion on an ongoing basis. A file system call that is intended to perform a function with respect to data stored on a storage device is intercepted. It is then determined whether the file system call is of a type that should be processed. If not, the original file system call is passed on through the file system. If the file system call should be processed, supplemental processing is performed to enhance the original file system call and the file system call is transparently returned to the calling system application. In embodiment, real-time secure file deletion is implemented using a vendor supplied driver (VSD) executing within the installable file system (IFS) of WINDOWS 95. Further, a method and system are disclosed for real-time secure data deletion in a system having an NTFS file system.

  • Patent number: 5927585
Abstract: An electric powered multiple impact fastener driving tool comprising a handle portion, a main body portion, a guide block, a magazine, and a guide and biasing assembly mounted in the guide block and affixed to the magazine enabling shifting of the magazine within the guide block between an extended fastener starting position and a retracted fastener driven position. The main body portion contains an impact assembly comprising a motor driven cam wheel with a single drop-off, a cam follower roller mounted on a reciprocable hammer, a compression spring surmounting and abutting the hammer, and a fastener driver. For each rotation of the cam wheel, the cam follower roll lifts the hammer, compressing the spring and storing energy therein. At the cam wheel drop-off, the cam follower wheel and hammer drop under the influence of the spring and the hammer impacts the driver which imparts a blow to the fastener. The cam follower wheel does not contact the cam wheel immediately after drop-off.

  • Patent number: 4506159
Abstract: An apparatus for charging a dosimeter which has a capacitor connected between first and second electrodes and a movable electrode in a chamber electrically connected to the first electrode. The movable electrode deflects varying amounts depending upon the charge present on said capacitor. The charger apparatus includes first and second charger electrodes couplable to the first and second dosimeter electrodes. To charge the dosimeter, it is urged downwardly into a charging socket on the charger apparatus. The second dosimeter electrode, which is the dosimeter housing, is electrically coupled to the second charger electrode through a conductive ring which is urged upwardly by a spring. As the dosimeter is urged into the socket, the ring moves downwardly, in contact with the second charger electrode.
