Patent number: 7391355Abstract: A geolocation system and method uses a single platform for determining a Doppler measurement set of a targeted aircraft or signal of interest. The electronic warfare aircraft and the ejected aircraft expendables technology device determine the Doppler measurement set of the targeted aircraft or other signal of interest. The ejected aircraft expendables technology device is initially tuned to an expected frequency of the target of interest. Re-tuning may take place after an initial signal reading and computation has been performed by the electronic warfare aircraft.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2005Date of Patent: June 24, 2008Assignee: BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventor: Thomas J. Patent number: 5589811Abstract: A power door safety sensing strip with a bracket strip for attachment to the face of a power operated garage door. The sensing strip includes a flexible insulating tubular member having a bell-like shaped cross section with a wide inner face. A flat insulating member fastened to a narrow section of the bell-like member extends to the wide inner face. Conductive surfaces on the wide inner face and on the flexible insulating member are moved into contact upon deformation of the bell-like member, thereby providing electrical contact. A Z-shaped bracket to attach the sensing strip to the face of a power operated door has one leg adapted to be attached to the door face. Another leg of the bracket, formed with a U-shaped receptacle, receives and holds the sensing strip so that it extends a short distance beyond the door edge.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1995Date of Patent: December 31, 1996Assignee: Techstrip, Inc.Inventors: Robert Pariot, J. Mortimer Traugott

Patent number: 5337715Abstract: In an automotive type engine having an air bypass valve controlling a portion of the air flow to the engine, decelerations are controlled in a manner to minimize or eliminate the conventional large feedback negative torque impulse to the operator usually experienced when fuel is shut off. The air bypass valve is closed down, in response to correct decel conditions, to an air flow level below that scheduled to establish the normal idle speed condition. The positive engine combustion torque is decreased so that the magnitude of the ratio between it and the engine negative torque becomes small. Immediately following fuel shut-off, the bypass valve is reopened to return the air flow to that level establishing the set idle speed condition upon resumption of fuel flow.Type: GrantFiled: November 13, 1992Date of Patent: August 16, 1994Assignee: Ford Motor CompanyInventors: Frank Gonzales, Jr., Timothy J. Patent number: 5192381Abstract: A power door sensing strip incorporates a pair of electrical conductors positioned in a sealed plastic tube and supported in a molded foam block so that external forces result in contact between the conductors. Reliable operation is afforded by the absense of internal supports between the conductors. Further, short circuits caused by moisture and contaminants entering the foam through breaks in an outer jacket are eliminated. Trimmable tails and electrical connections on the ends of the strip enable the strip to be used with doors of varying widths and for non-handed installation.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1991Date of Patent: March 9, 1993Assignee: Techstrip Inc.Inventors: Robert Pariot, J. Mortimer Traugott

Patent number: 4651716Abstract: An apparatus for ultrasonic irradiation of the heart either when the chest is open after surgery or through the chest wall. It may also be used in conjunction with electrical defibrillation equipment or alone. The apparatus includes an EKG for detecting the heart beat, an ultrasonic generator and timing and pulsing circuits for providing timed pulses of ultrasound to coincide with selected events in the cardiac cycle.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 1985Date of Patent: March 24, 1987Assignee: Canadian Patents and Development LimitedInventors: George V. Forester, Alan J. Mortimer, Orest Z. Roy

Patent number: 4642951Abstract: A method for refurbishing a suspended acoustical tile ceiling when the tiles become soiled comprises inserting a tile insert beneath each soiled tile to provide a new face to the suspended ceiling. The tile insert comprises a thin layer of substantially rigid material with an acoustical pattern of holes extending therethrough. The tile insert has a front face which is of washable material. In this manner, an entire suspended ceiling system can be refurbished without the need to remove the existing tiles. The tile insert may include a moisture barrier on the rear face of the tile insert. The moisture barrier improves washability of the tile and significantly enhances the noise reduction properties of the refurbished suspended ceiling.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1985Date of Patent: February 17, 1987Assignee: Fam Tile Restoration Services, Ltd.Inventor: Francis J. Mortimer

Patent number: 4350999Abstract: Transmission of digital information during the course of a television signal transmission is provided by transmitting a predetermined number of color burst cycles during the horizontal blanking interval such that logical bits are represented by different, predetermined cycles of color burst.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 1980Date of Patent: September 21, 1982Assignee: Sanders Associates, Inc.Inventor: Thomas J. Mortimer

Patent number: 4342454Abstract: Instant replay for microprocessor-controlled video games is provided by storing and retaining for a period of time in a random access memory the results of microprocessor polling of each of the player command entry devices. In a memory conserving embodiment only newly entered player commands and the times when such commands are entered need be stored and retained.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1979Date of Patent: August 3, 1982Assignee: Sanders Associates, Inc.Inventors: Ralph H. Baer, Leonard D. Cope, Thomas J. Mortimer

Patent number: 4095215Abstract: A number of subsystems are disclosed for use in pagers in which the message transmitted, received and displayed is in alpha/numeric form. The subsystems include an encoder which displays the encoded message on an imprinted tape which is run continuously as an alarm when the memory of the encoder is overloaded. In a soft copy embodiment the encoder includes a keyboard and a dot matrix form of display both driven by a single logic circuit which cycles sequentially through all the alpha/numeric characters to provide simultaneously keyboard decoding and display activation. In another subsystem an end of message circuit is provided to sense the absence of transmitted characters by integration of the message signals, with a nonzero average indicating the end of the message. In a further subsystem, when FSK message signals are used, only one of the two tones is detected for message decoding.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1977Date of Patent: June 13, 1978Assignee: Sanders Associaties, Inc.Inventor: Thomas J. Mortimer
