  • Publication number: 20030173771
Abstract: A customizable theme calendar includes a set of date cells corresponding to an arbitrarily designated time period (e.g., a starting date and a target date), and a theme applied to the calendar. The theme corresponds to an event associated with the arbitrarily designated time period. The time periods and themes may correspond to recognized holidays such Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter and so on, or to arbitrarily designated events having personal or familial significance, such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Such customized calendars may be designed and generated in connection with a computer system and calendar generation software.

  • Patent number: 6606878
Abstract: A room air conditioner is provided having an evaporator coil located in a front part of the room air conditioner, a condenser coil located in a back part of the room air conditioner, and a wall separating the front part from the back part. The wall prevents a free flow of air between the front part and the back part. A portion of the wall, extending less than a full width of the air conditioner, is formed of metal. An air moving device positioned in the front part creates an air stream flowing through the evaporator coil and out through an air outlet in a front grill of the air conditioner. An air housing surrounds at least a portion of the air moving device and forms an air flow path in the air conditioner, the air housing forming at least a part of the wall. The metal portion of the wall is mounted to the room air conditioner independently of the air housing.

  • Patent number: 6602195
Abstract: A medical ultrasound imaging pulse transmission method transmits at least three pulses, including at least two pulses of different amplitude and at least two pulses of differing phase. The larger-amplitude pulse is transmitted with a larger aperture and the smaller-amplitude pulses are transmitted with respective smaller subapertures. The subapertures are arranged such that the sum of the subapertures used for the smaller-amplitude pulses is equal to the aperture used for the larger-amplitude pulse. In this way, pulses of differing amplitudes are obtained without varying the power level of individual transducer elements, and precise control over pulse amplitude is provided.

  • Patent number: 6598251
Abstract: A body support system is provided having improved static and dynamic mechanical response characteristics and improved thermal regulation. The body support system can be of a modular construction to provide mechanical response characteristics suited to a particular user or group of users, or to a particular environment or use. In one embodiment, the body support system is a seat cushion comprising a foam layer with a central region, a plurality of spaced apart vertical foam columns that define a fluid reservoir in the central region, a plurality of fluid channels in the foam layer for communicating fluid in and out of the fluid reservoir, and an elastomeric layer having resilience and flow properties, such as a viscoelastic gel, positioned above the fluid reservoir.

  • Publication number: 20030136961
Abstract: A silicon wafer having a controlled oxygen precipitation behavior such that a denuded zone extending inward from the front surface and oxygen precipitates in the wafer bulk sufficient for intrinsic gettering purposes are ultimately formed. Specifically, prior to formation of the oxygen precipitates, the wafer bulk comprises dopant stabilized oxygen precipitate nucleation centers. The dopant is selected from a group consisting of nitrogen and carbon and the concentration of the dopant is sufficient to allow the oxygen precipitate nucleation centers to withstand thermal processing such as an epitaxial deposition process while maintaining the ability to dissolve any grown-in nucleation centers.

  • Publication number: 20030121657
Abstract: A method is disclosed which utilizes multiple overlapping surveys to estimate a position in a wellbore and related position uncertainty. Multiple surveys are often taken over the same portion of a wellbore either concurrently or sequentially and/or using various instruments. Each survey generates an estimated survey position and related uncertainty for a given location in the wellbore. By combining the estimated survey positions and uncertainties for these overlapping surveys, a resultant position and related ellipsoid of uncertainty is estimated. This resultant position estimates a position in the wellbore by incorporating the estimated survey positions and uncertainties of multiple overlapping surveys.

  • Publication number: 20030125597
Abstract: This invention is directed to a method of removing dimethyl ether from an olefin stream. The method includes distilling the olefin stream so that the dimethyl ether is separated out of the olefin stream with propane. The olefin stream can then be further distilled to provide a polymer grade ethylene stream and a polymer grade propylene stream, with each stream containing not greater than about 10 wppm dimethyl ether.

  • Patent number: 6571570
Abstract: A refrigeration device is provided having an air pressurizing device and a shroud enclosing the air pressurizing device and defining a first air flow path for an air flow generated by the air pressurizing device. The air pressurizing device and the shroud are positioned in a front side of the room air conditioner. A back side of the air conditioner includes air outlets communicating with an exterior of the air conditioner. A second air flow path extends between the first air flow path and the air outlets. A slider member is positioned in the second air flow path such that in a first position the second air flow path is closed to prevent communication between the first air flow path and the air outlets and in a second position of the slider member, the second air flow path is open to allow communication between the first air flow path and the air outlets.

  • Publication number: 20030094943
Abstract: The invention provides a Hall effect magnetic field sensor (10, 50) including carrier excluding or extracting means (36, 66) for reducing an intrinsic contribution to carrier concentration in the active region (14e, 53c) to provide for the sensor to be operative in an extrinsic saturated regime. This provides an advantage that magnetic field measurement sensitivity of the sensor (10, 50) can be made substantially insensitive to sensor temperature thereby improving measurement accuracy.

  • Publication number: 20030080332
Abstract: An extracting transistor (10)—an FET—includes a conducting channel extending via a p-type InSb quantum well (22) between p-type InAlSb layers (20, 24) of wider band-gap. One of the InAlSb layers (24) incorporates an ultra-thin n-type &dgr;-doping layer (28) of Si, which provides a dominant source of charge carriers for the quantum well (22). It bears n+ source and drain electrodes (30a, 30b) and an insulated gate (30c). The other InAlSb layer (20) adjoins a barrier layer (19) of still wider band-gap upon a substrate layer (14) and substrate (16) with electrode (18). Biasing one or both of the source and drain electrodes (30a, 30b) positive relative to the substrate electrode (18) produces minority carrier extraction in the quantum well (22) reducing its intrinsic contribution to conductivity, taking it into an extrinsic saturated regime and reducing leakage current.

  • Patent number: 6551246
Abstract: A pulse echo beamforming system generates high spatial bandwidth ultrasound images using only a few transmit/receive events per frame. Each transmit/receive event consists of firing an unfocused or weakly focused wave and receiving and storing the echo on every receive channel. Each set of stored echoes is delayed and apodized to form component beams for each desired image point in the region insonified by that particular wave. The final images are synthesized by adding two or more of the component beams for each image point.

  • Publication number: 20030042782
Abstract: A height and pivot-adjustable office chair arm assembly with an arm rest that can be raised to different vertical positions by actuation of a gas cylinder and having a shroud surrounding and vertically movable with respect to at least a portion of an arm support that is hollow and surrounds the gas cylinder such that the shroud is vertically movable in relation to at least a portion of the arm support. The shroud is connected to the gas cylinder at an upper end for vertical movement by the gas cylinder. An arm rest pivot support is attached only to the shroud and receives the arm rest assembly and enables the arm rest assembly to pivot in a horizontal plane thereby allowing the arm rest assembly to assume any selected rotational position.

  • Patent number: 6517489
Abstract: A medical ultrasonic imaging method uses transmitted plane waves, or transmitted wavefronts that are substantially planar, to improve contrast agent imaging by generating peak pressures that are more uniform over depth. Depending on the type of contrast agent, the returned frequencies of interest, and the desired strength of the non-linear response, multiple wavefronts can be generated at substantially the same time to increase peak pressures.
