  • Patent number: 8872825
Abstract: A method is provided for representing a material by approximating an original function modeling the interaction of the material and of light emitted by a light source, which function is defined as a function of pixels, of viewpoints, and of light directions, the method comprising: for each viewpoint, the steps of performing a polynomial approximation of the original modeling function and a geometric approximation of a residue resulting from the difference between the original modeling function and the polynomial approximation of said function; and a step of simplification by decomposing the results obtained from the two approximations into wavelet packets.

  • Publication number: 20100053153
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of coding data representative of a multidimensional texture, said data being initially organized on a number of dimensions at least equal to three, at least one of said dimensions being associated with a rendition parameter for said texture, characterized in that it comprises the steps of: wavelet analysis (C2) of said data on said dimensions, and compression (C3) of data obtained from the result of said analysis.
