  • Patent number: 9580354
Abstract: A liquid phenolic resin intended to participate in the makeup of a sizing composition for mineral fibers is essentially composed of phenol-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde-glycine condensates. A process for the manufacture of the resin, the sizing composition including the resin and the insulating products based on mineral fibers sized by means of the abovementioned sizing composition are presented.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 26, 2011
Date of Patent: February 28, 2017
    Assignee: SAINT-GOBAIN ISOVER
Inventors: Claudio Roncuzzi, Jérôme Douce, Guillaume Rousselet, Jean-Louis Mallier
  • Patent number: 8951341
Abstract: A sizing composition for insulating products based on mineral wool, in particular on glass or on rock, includes at least one monosaccharide and/or at lest one polysaccharide, and at least one organic polycarboxylic acid having a molar mass of less than or equal to 1000. Another subject-matter of the present invention is the insulating products based on mineral fibres thus obtained and the process for the manufacture thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 4, 2008
Date of Patent: February 10, 2015
    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Isover
Inventors: Boris Jaffrennou, Dominique Serughetti, Jérôme Douce
  • Patent number: 8877102
Abstract: The invention relates to thermally-stable mineral wool which can dissolve in a physiological medium, comprising fibres containing the following constituents, expressed in percentage by weight, namely: 35-60 % SiO2, preferably 39-55 %; 12-27% Al2O3, preferably 16-25%; 0-35% CaO, preferably 3-25%; 0-30% MgO, preferably 0-15%; 0-17% Na2O, preferably 6-12%; 0-17% K2O, preferably 3-12%; 10-17% R2O (Na2O+K2O), preferably 12-17%; 0-5% P2O5, preferably 0-2%; 0-20% Fe2O3; 0-8% B2O3, preferably 0-4%; and 0-3% TiO2, and at least one phosphorous compound that can react with said fibres at a temperature of less than 1000° C. in order to form a coating on the surface thereof. The invention is characterised in that the phosphorous content of said compound, as expressed in phosphorus atom weight, varies between 0.0005%, in particular more than 0.01%, and 1%, in particular less than 0.5%, of the total weight of the fibres.
