  • Patent number: 8450606
Abstract: A tape can comprise a strip of dielectric material, with adhering patches of electrical conductive material. The patches can be substantially electrically isolated from one another. The strip can be disposed in a communication cable to provide a shield that is electrically discontinuous or has high resistance between opposite cable ends. Each patch can interact with electromagnetic radiation associated with electrical signals transmitting over the cable. The patches can collectively interact with the transmitting electrical signals in a cumulative or resonant manner to produce a spike in return loss at a particular frequency of the transmitting signals. The frequency location of the spike can depend upon the sizes of the patches, with size impacting manufacturability. The patches can be sized such that the spike falls within an operating frequency of the transmitting signal but is suppressed, so the cable meets return loss specifications while offering manufacturing advantage.

  • Patent number: 6922966
Abstract: A connecting element for insertion into the ends of at least two hollow sections of different cross-section, in particular in the case of a middle node for an instrument panel transverse beam in automobile manufacture is such that a push-fit body is shape-formed—by way of extrusion of a light weight alloy, plastic or other extrudable material—on a frame with side walls extending in the direction of insertion, the push-fit body is of smaller cross-section than the frame and contains lengths of the frame walls. That frame preferably surrounds the push-fit body which in turn forms a corner of the frame. In addition, the frame may exhibit an integral frame bracket outside one frame side wall whereby the frame bracket walls are aligned with parallel frame walls.

  • Patent number: 6575007
Abstract: A device for forming a hollow profile formed as a multi-chamber profile by an internal high pressure generated by a fluid pressure medium within the hollow profile containing a sealing die engaging in the profile chamber with a carrier part and a collar arranged on the carrier part sealing the face side of the profile chamber. The die also has a passage opening as a pressure medium supply and/or extraction channel. The collar is a resilient rubber die part arranged on the face of the carrier part facing the profile chamber and on the free face of the collar is provided a preload plate which is anchored by way of the fixing member penetrating the collar in the carrier part lying on the collar so that the collar is squeeze-clamped between the preload plate and the carrier part.

  • Patent number: 6566607
Abstract: A data communication cable includes a cable jacket surrounding a plurality of twisted pairs of insulated conductors disposed longitudinally over the length of the communication cable and arranged side-by-side to reduce cross-talk between the twisted pairs. The cable also includes a first region having a first thickness disposed between two regions having a second thickness. These regions, or another structure located on the outer surface of the jacket, are arranged to prevent symmetric stacking of several communication cables and thus reduce alien cross-talk arising from outside of the communication cable.

  • Patent number: 6365836
Abstract: A cross web core in a high performance data cable maintains geometric stability between plural twisted pair transmission media and between each twisted pair and the cable jacket. The cross web core may further isolate twisted pairs from each other by including conductive or magnetically permeable materials. By so doing, loss, impedance and crosstalk performance are improved.

  • Patent number: 6272828
Abstract: A cable twisting method and apparatus, for forming double twisted pair cables. The invention longitudinally distributes the eccentricities of the individual cables, where the helical propagation of the eccentricity is not conformal to the helix formed by the geometric shape of the cables.

  • Patent number: 6259256
Abstract: A cable testing device apparatus has been developed so as to measure the NEXT and ELFEXT characteristics of a cable containing a plurality of twisted pairs. In particular, the present invention simultaneously provides each twisted pair within the cable with an electrical signal of equal magnitude and measuring the equivalent power sum output for each of the individual twisted pairs within the cable. Thus, a total of 25 measurements for each test are needed, for a total of 50 tests.
