  • Publication number: 20170309791
Abstract: A semiconductor light emitting device comprising a light emitting layer disposed between an n-type region and a p-type region is combined with a ceramic layer which is disposed in a path of light emitted by the light emitting layer. The ceramic layer is composed of or includes a wavelength converting material such as a phosphor. Luminescent ceramic layers according to embodiments of the invention may be more robust and less sensitive to temperature than prior art phosphor layers. In addition, luminescent ceramics may exhibit less scattering and may therefore increase the conversion efficiency over prior art phosphor layers.

  • Patent number: 9335025
Abstract: The invention relates to a daylight illumination apparatus. A daylight collector (3) collects daylight (4), which is guided to an illumination location to be illuminated along an optical path by a light guide (5), wherein the daylight is absorbed by the light guide. A photoluminescent material (6, 8) is arranged within the optical path and emits photoluminescent light that compensates for the absorption of the daylight by the light guide. Absorption losses of the daylight can therefore effectively be compensated, without necessarily needing, for example, an active compensation light source. This allows providing compensated daylight illumination in a technically relatively simple way.

  • Patent number: 9175214
Abstract: The invention relates to a lighting (1) device comprising a light source (2) and a wavelength converting element (7), which comprises a phosphor compounded with a polymer. The phosphor contains a metal-ion activator which is excitable via a partially forbidden electronic transition. The phosphor and the polymer being chosen such that the difference in their refractive index is smaller than 0.1. Due to this choice, scattering in the wavelength converting element (7) remains at minimum. Interesting wavelength converting elements (7) are obtained when using phosphors comprising specific Mn(IV)-activated fluoride compounds and specific fluorine-containing polymers.

  • Patent number: 9140353
Abstract: An actuating device is provided that includes an actuating element (1) with at least three switching positions. The actuating device (1) can be deflected starting from its basic positions at least in one direction into an intermediate switching position for selecting an operating state of the technical system. For selecting at least one other operating state of the technical system, the actuating element (1) can be deflected, starting from an intermediate switching position, into at least one other switching position that is located farther away from the basic position. The undesired jumping of the actuating element over intermediate switching positions, during switching, is effectively prevented from occurring. An intuitively detectable tactile feedback of the switching state of the actuating element or of the state of the system is provided.
