At the same time, the honeycomb body has support pins for connecting to a second honeycomb body, the pins have a distance of at least 25 mm from each other along the course of the stack at least outside an inner region. A method introduces support pins into the honeycomb body and a device receives a honeycomb body and/or for positioning support pins. The device enables the installation of the support pins in the honeycomb body.

    Abstract: A catalyst carrier body has a geometrical longitudinal axis, a honeycomb body and a housing. A corrugated casing with an outer side and an inner side is disposed between the honeycomb body and the housing. The corrugated casing is connected to the housing at attachment sections on the outer side thereof by brazing. The attachment sections lie substantially on a common circumferential line and have the narrowest possible width in direction of a longitudinal axis. The attachment sections have an overall surface area permitting them to securely hold the honeycomb body under operating conditions. A high retention degree for the connection between the honeycomb body and housing can thus be achieved even with a shrinking of the diameter of the honeycomb body at end sides during the service life thereof.

The inner sleeve and the outer sleeve are placed in an axial section between the casing tube and the honeycomb structure. The adjacently disposed components are joined to one another by a plurality of joining locations, and an open spring-damper system is formed by at least one sleeve. A long-life system for fixing a honeycomb structure in a casing tube is thus provided which permits thermal compensating expansions and distinctly reduces the tendency of the honeycomb structure to vibrate with regard to the casing tube. A method for producing such a honeycomb body is also provided.

Regions of the inner casing tube which are not connected to the housing but are connected to the honeycomb body toward the inside are constructed as radially elastic spring elements.
