Publication number: 20240092749Abstract: A process for the epoxidation of propene involves reacting propene with hydrogen peroxide, in the presence of a methanol solvent and a shaped titanium zeolite epoxidation catalyst in a fixed bed reactor. The process then involves recovering methanol from the reaction mixture, treatment of the recovered methanol by passing it through a bed of an acidic ion exchange resin, and recycling the treated methanol to the epoxidation reaction; as well as regeneration of the acidic ion exchange resin. Catalyst breakage can be reduced or avoided by washing the regenerated bed of an acidic ion exchange resin with methanol until the methanol exiting the resin bed has an apparent pH higher than 1.8, before methanol treated with the acidic ion exchange resin is recycled to the epoxidation reaction.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 26, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Applicants: Evonik Operations GmbH, thyssenkrupp Uhde GmbHInventors: Maik BERNHARD, Sören Götz, Marc Brendel, Johan Anton, Matthias Pascaly, Thomas Noll, Jürgen Schemel

Patent number: 10148500Abstract: A virtual network is overlaid upon physical networks. The virtual network is a layer-2 network that expands an organization's LAN using virtual MAC addresses. A VN device driver shim intercepts LAN packets and their virtual MAC and IP addresses and encapsulates them with physical packets. As new nodes are created, a VN switch table is expanded so that all nodes on the virtual network can reach the new node. A copy of the VN switch table is stored on each node by a virtual network management daemon on the node. A VN configuration controller in a central server updates the VN switch tables. Organizations can expand their virtual network as nodes are created at remote cloud computing providers without action by the staff at the cloud computing provider. Hybrid cloud virtual networks include on-premises physical and virtual-machine nodes, and off-premises guest nodes and instances.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2015Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: Cisco Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Christopher C. Marino, Juergen Brendel, Patrick Amor, Pritesh Kothari

Patent number: 9197543Abstract: A layer-3 virtual router connects two or more virtual networks. Virtual networks are overlaid upon physical networks. Each virtual network (VN) is a layer-2 network that appears to expand an organization's LAN using virtual MAC addresses. The network stack forms a virtual-network packet with a virtual gateway MAC address of the virtual router to reach a remote virtual network. A VN device driver shim intercepts packets and their virtual MAC and IP addresses and encapsulates them with physical packets sent over the Internet. A VN switch table is expanded to include entries for nodes on the remote virtual network so that all nodes on both virtual networks are accessible. A copy of the VN switch table is stored on each node by a virtual network management daemon on the node. A Time-To-Live field in the virtual-network packet is decremented for each virtual hop and a checksum recalculated.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2014Date of Patent: November 24, 2015Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Juergen Brendel, Christopher C. The virtual network is a layer-2 network that appears to expand an organization's LAN using virtual MAC addresses. Patent number: 8596418Abstract: An automatic lubrication apparatus is designed and intended to be mounted on a hydraulic tool and can be driven by a hydraulic-pressure medium, in particular on a hydraulic hammer, and includes a lubricant pump incorporating a pump element. The pump element of the lubricant pump is cyclically impacted by a cam, and the cam is operatively connected to a hydromotor from which torque is transferred so as to produce synchronous rotation.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2011Date of Patent: December 3, 2013Assignee: Baier & Koppel GmbH & Co.Inventor: Jürgen Brendel

Patent number: 8447762Abstract: Multiple Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliances are pooled together by a virtual NAS translator, forming one common name space visible to clients. Clients send messages to the virtual NAS translator with a file name and a virtual handle of the parent directory that are concatenated to a full file-path name and compressed by a cryptographic hash function to generate a hashed-name key. The hashed-name key is matched to a storage key in a table. The full file-path name is not stored, reducing the table size. A unique entry number is returned to the client as the virtual file handle that is also stored in another table with one or more native file handles, allowing virtual handles to be translated to native handles that the NAS appliance servers use to retrieve files. File movement among NAS servers alters native file handles but not virtual handles, hiding NAS details from clients.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2007Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Sanwork Data MGMT. Patent number: 7900040Abstract: A load-balancer assigns incoming requests to servers at a server farm. An atomic operation assigns both un-encrypted clear-text requests and encrypted requests from a client to the same server at the server farm. An encrypted session is started early by the atomic operation, before encryption is required. The atomic operation is initiated by a special, automatically loaded component on a web page. This component is referenced by code requiring that an encrypted session be used to retrieve the component. Keys and certificates are exchanged between a server and the client to establish the encrypted session. The server generates a secure-sockets-layer (SSL) session ID for the encrypted session. The server also generates a server-assignment cookie that identifies the server at the server farm. The server-assignment cookie is encrypted and sent to the client along with the SSL session ID. The Client decrypts the server-assignment cookie and stores it along with the SSL session ID.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2006Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Inventor: Juergen Brendel

Patent number: 7593098Abstract: An optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) operates in a gated mode, enabling a predetermined width of an optical fiber to be analyzed. The OTDR may test only a desired position on the fiber. Data obtained along different lengths of the fiber may be combined together, providing a thorough representation of the fiber characteristics. Alternatively, specific regions of the fiber may be analyzed. The OTDR measures the backscattered signal using photon-counting techniques, and improves the accuracy of such algorithms by attenuating the incoming backscattering signals automatically and independently at each position in the fiber being tested. The OTDR simultaneously achieves a high dynamic range and a high temporal/spatial resolution, an improvement over conventional OTDRs.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2007Date of Patent: September 22, 2009Assignee: Luciol Instruments SAInventor: Jürgen Brendel

Patent number: 7499182Abstract: An optical signal measurement system provides a tunable optical filter. An unknown optical signal is scanned through the tunable optical filter. The wavelength and chromatic dispersion values of the unknown optical signal scanned through the tunable optical filter are measured by operating the tunable optical filter in a scanning mode for at least one of OSA and PMD measurements, and in a stepping mode for CD measurements. The wavelength and the dispersion values in the unknown optical signal are specified.Type: GrantFiled: December 24, 2006Date of Patent: March 3, 2009Assignee: Sunrise Telecom IncorporatedInventors: Ke-Cai Zeng, Paul Chang, Jürgen Brendel
