  • Patent number: 8087732
Abstract: In a vehicle brake system including first and second brake circuits, a dual-circuit brake actuator, first and second control lines, the first brake circuit including a first brake pressure regulating valve and a first pressure sensor, the second brake circuit including a second brake pressure regulating valve and a second pressure sensor, the brake actuator connected to the first valve via the first control line to control that valve, and, via the second control line, to the second valve to control that valve, a control unit is communicatively connected to the pressure sensors and brake actuator and is adapted to effect a method for detecting a brake system circuit failure including determining a first pressure difference in the first brake circuit and a second pressure difference in the second brake circuit during actuation of the brake actuator, and determining a first comparison value from the first and second pressure differences.

  • Patent number: 7647145
Abstract: A method for error processing in electronic controllers, particularly, in motor vehicles, is provided whereby errors determined on each vehicle start are permanently written in an error memory. On repeated recognition of similar errors, an error counter, provided for the error, is increased. In the case where it is determined that the error counter has reached a pre-determined state on a renewed vehicle start, a special “poor maintenance” is launched, which only permits the start of the monitored function when further tests are carried out and completed.

  • Patent number: 7455369
Abstract: A spring-actuated parking brake includes a spring brake actuator communicating with a fluid source via a supply line. In brake released condition, the actuator is pressurized via a supply valve; in engaged condition, the actuator communicates with a pressure sink via the supply valve and a pressure-relief line. During brake engagement, the supply valve and a shutoff valve between the supply valve and actuator are switched to flow-enabled position for pressure relief of the actuator placing it in communication with the pressure sink. For brake release, the supply valve is switched to the fluid source and the shutoff valve is switched to fluid-passing position communicating with the fluid source to pressurize the brake cylinder. After brake engagement, the shutoff valve is switched to shut-off position decoupling the actuator from the supply line; the supply valve is switched to flow-enabled position placing the supply line in communication with the pressure sink.

  • Patent number: 7373855
Abstract: The invention relates to a switching device for a parking brake, especially a commercial-vehicle parking brake, with a handle that can be moved between a pulled position for engaging the parking brake and a pushed position for releasing the parking brake, and to such a parking brake. The handle is subjected to a preload force toward a central position when it is in the pulled or pushed position. Depending on the position of the handle, an evaluation device outputs different control signals for an actuating device of the parking brake.
