  • Publication number: 20240059270
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a system and method of compensating for any forces induced by components of a robotic driving system. The robotic driving system including a turntable defining a steering axis and mounted to a steering wheel of a vehicle. A robot frame is mounted to the vehicle and includes a support member. A transmission device has a transmission housing and a drive member. A steering motor is supported by the transmission housing and operatively coupled to the drive member. A load sensor is mounted between the support member and the transmission housing. A controller calculates a first torque experienced by the turntable based on a load signal and a known distance from a steering axis, and the controller determines a second torque to be applied to the steering torque based on the first torque to compensate for forces induced by the robotic driving system.

  • Patent number: 11820356
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally directed to a system and method of compensating for any forces induced by components of a robotic driving system, the robotic driving system including a turntable defining a steering axis and mounted to a steering wheel of a vehicle including an automated steering system, a robot frame mounted to the vehicle and including a support member, a transmission device coupled to the support member and operatively coupled to the turntable, a steering motor in driving engagement with the transmission device, a load sensor mounted between the support member and the transmission device at a known distance from the steering axis, and a controller in communication with the steering motor and the load sensor, the controller configured to adjust a steering torque generated by the steering motor to compensate for any forces induced by said robotic driving system to prevent overriding the automated steering system.

  • Publication number: 20220185264
Abstract: The teaching generally provide for an overrunable test vehicle for dynamic vehicle testing of advanced driver assistant systems. The overrunable test vehicle comprising a chassis with a control section defining a cavity, the control section having a profile height, and a carrier section having a profile height different than the control section profile height, the carrier section including a mounting area configured to receive a soft target. The overrunable test vehicle including a caster member supported by the chassis in the carrier section, a drive mechanism located in the control section having an electric motor and a drive wheel. The overrunable test vehicle also including a control system disposed within the cavity of the control section and coupled with the at least one electric motor for sending and receiving information.
