  • Patent number: 6785631
Abstract: A device for outputting parameter values and a method of providing parameter values which pertain to the relative kinematic behavior of an object, in particular a first vehicle, and a target object, in particular a second vehicle, a conclusion is drawn based on the parameter values as to whether the object and the target object will probably collide. The method involves providing a sensor system on the object, the sensor system being provided for transmitting and receiving signals to determine measured values ri, vr,i for target object distance r and/or for relative radial velocity vr between the object and the target object, determining measured values ri, vr,i and analyzing measured values ri, vr,i thus determined and providing the parameter values based on the signals received by a receiver.

  • Publication number: 20030156068
Abstract: A system for verifying the access authorization to a vehicle has a vehicle-based transceiver unit (E) which has at least two transmitting/receiving antennas spaced a distance apart in or on the vehicle, and it has a transponder unit (T) which is set up for detection of its presence and for exchanging a predetermined identification request/response sequence through or with the transceiver unit (E) within a predetermined detection area in or around the vehicle (F), wherein the transceiver unit (E) has calculation/analyzing means which perform the detection of a position of the transponder unit (T) by using a time and/or phase measurement based on a mathematical geometric method in response to a reply signal transmitted by the transponder (T) and received by the at least two transmitting/receiving antennas (El, E2, E3) in response to the identification request.

  • Publication number: 20030128137
Abstract: A distance sensor device is described, in particular as a component of a parking aid or reversing aid for a motor vehicle, having one or more distance sensors (US, &mgr;W) and a distance sensor control device (US-SG) for the purpose of activating the distance sensor or sensors (US, &mgr;W) via a respective signal line using an activation pulse that is preferably quasi-digital and time-analog. At least one of the distance sensors (US, &mgr;W) has two different modes of operation. It is possible to perform switchover between the modes of operation by varying the duration and/or amplitude of the activation from the distance sensor control device (US-SG).

  • Patent number: 6486681
Abstract: In a measuring circuit for a capacitive sensor for distance measurement and/or space monitoring comprising sensor wire and shielding electrode, a sine signal is applied to the shielding electrode. The sensor wire is connected, via a shielded cable, with one input of an input amplifier which serves as current-voltage converter and whose supply voltage is likewise influenced by the sine signal. The output of the input amplifier is connected with one input of a phase-dependent rectifier arrangement, the sine signal is applied to the other input of the phase-dependent rectifier arrangement, and its output is connected to an analog-to-digital converter.

  • Patent number: 5587938
Abstract: A method and a device for maneuvering a motor vehicle out of a parking space, in the case of which neither the size nor the clearance of obstacles is known. By means of sensors mounted on the motor vehicle, the clearance between the motor vehicle and surrounding obstacles and the position and steering angle of the motor vehicle are determined, and continuously updated. On the basis of this data, an up-to-date, local map of the surroundings is placed in a computer module. A polyline is used to connect the detected obstacles to form a barrier. From this data, a model of the surroundings is produced, with which a driving strategy for maneuvering the motor vehicle out of the parking space is determined. Driving-direction pointers indicate the appropriate driving direction to the driver of the motor vehicle.
