  • Patent number: 7823587
Abstract: A system and process for monitoring the valves of an anesthetic dispenser with a safety valve (2) and with a dispensing valve (3) for dispensing the anesthetic in the form of a vapor. The valves are connected in series. A system has a downstream dispensing gap (5) and a fixed bypass resistance (9). The dispensing valve (3) is first opened for an equalization time. The safety valve (2) and the dispensing valve (3) are closed and the differential pressure between the saturated vapor branch (4) and the mixed gas branch (8) is measured by means of a differential pressure sensor (6, 7). The safety valve (2) or the dispensing valve (3) is opened and the differential pressure between the saturated vapor branch (4) and the mixed gas branch (8) is measured by means of the differential pressure sensor (6, 7).

  • Publication number: 20100167906
Abstract: The process of making synthetic silica glass occurs in a combustion chamber of a muffle furnace. It includes producing a gas flow containing a fuel, an oxidizer, and a silicon compound that is converted by flame hydrolysis and/or by chemical oxidation to SiO2 particles, and depositing them on a target to form a roll-shaped silica glass body. The combustion chamber is provided with a gas inlet and a gas outlet arranged at opposite ends of the combustion chamber, which widens from the inlet to the outlet. The gas flow is produced by a central nozzle for the silicon compound, a first concentric ring-shaped nozzle for the oxidizer, and a second concentric ring-shaped nozzle for the fuel. The process is characterized by a ratio of areas of ring gaps of the ring-shaped nozzles of from 1:4 to 1:6.1. The apparatus for the process is also part of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20100140818
Abstract: The invention concerns a process and a device for generating a current of humid air having a defined relative humidity especially for the mixing treatment of a liquid on a liquid carrier (42). The process comprises the following steps: generating a current of air in a tubing arrangement (8), generating hot water vapour in an evaporator (10), introducing the water vapour into the air current to generate flowing hot humid air, passing the hot humid air through a water separator (20) while lowering the temperature of the humid air, heating the humid air coming from the water separator (20) to a certain temperature to lower the relative humidity to a defined value in a collecting chamber (30), and discharging the humid air from the tubing arrangement (8) as a current of humid air.

  • Publication number: 20100080340
Abstract: An air bearing has a rotor having a circularly curved radial rotor bearing surface along its circumferential direction. The air bearing also has a stator having at least one radial stator bearing surface partially enclosing the rotor in the circumferential direction. The radial stator bearing surface is curved according to a profile following the circumferential direction of the rotor and is fashioned to generate an air gap between it and the radial rotor bearing surface so that, upon operation, the rotor is borne, supported by an air current in the air gap. The profile shapes the air gap such that, at a starting temperature that deviates from an operating temperature, the air gap has a smaller thickness (measured in the radial direction) in a second region of the radial stator bearing surface in comparison to a first region of the radial stator bearing surface along the circumferential direction.

  • Publication number: 20100025590
Abstract: A rotor of a gantry of a computed tomography apparatus is produced at least in sections in a differential style from bar-shaped basic elements. Due to the differential style of the rotor, the rotation mass is reduced to a significant degree given a simultaneously maintained rigidity and stability of the rotor 1, such that high rotation speeds can be realized with a comparably small dimensioning of the rotor drive.

  • Publication number: 20100025591
Abstract: A rotor, and a gantry and a computed tomography apparatus with such a rotor, has recess to accommodate at least one component of an image data acquisition device, and the recess is dimensioned such that the component can be inserted therein in a radial direction proceeding away from a rotation center of the rotor and is positively connected with the rotor by an abutment structure provided on the component, as well as by spot connections. This positive fit thus acts in the direction of the centrifugal forces arising upon rotation of the rotor, such that an ejection of the component from the rotor is effectively prevented even given a failure of the spot connections (for example bolt connections) between the rotor 1 and the component.

  • Publication number: 20090063238
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses enable generation of an executed workload electronic record. The executed workload record indicates data related to one or more performance metrics by which performance of a work task is evaluated. One such performance metric is an expected time for completion of the task. Performance of the task can be monitored to determine an actual completion time for the task to compare against an expected completion time. The executed workload record can be used for evaluation of workers. Executed workload records provide centralized, aggregatable information for evaluation purposes.
