  • Patent number: 6770377
Abstract: The active brazing solder for brazing ceramic parts of alumina, particularly of high-purity alumina, contains a maximum of 12 wt. % Ti, a maximum of 8 wt. % Be, and less than 16.5 wt. % Fe, the remainder being Zr and any impurities that may be present. The active brazing solder has the following behaviour/features: Brazing temperature: lower than 1,000° C.; the brazed joint is high-vacuum-tight over a long period of time; the coefficient of thermal expansion of the active brazing alloy is substantially identical to that of the alumina ceramic in the entire temperature range covered during the brazing process; the strength of the brazed joint between the two ceramic parts is so high that under tensile loading, fracture will result not at the joint, but in the adjacent ceramic; the pressure resistance of the active brazing solder is greater than 2 GPa; the active brazing solder is very good processable into powders having particle sizes on the order of 10 &mgr;m.

  • Patent number: 6613446
Abstract: A conical honeycomb body and method for producing the honeycomb body that avoids the deformations occurring when fixing a conical lamellar body in a conical casing tube is described. Clamping aids are disposed in the casing tube at a distance from its openings and are configured such that at least in sections they have a ring shape. The clamping aids allow for the economical production of conical honeycomb bodies having greater mechanical strength. Their variants make it possible to influence the function of the edge area of the conical honeycomb body in a targeted manner. Especially beading, necking and/or rings achieve, for example, a barrier effect so that no fluids are able to circulate in the channels situated in the edge area of the casing tube. The openings of the casing tube are free of inserted elements and can therefore be easily welded to other components of the exhaust-gas system.

  • Patent number: 6525963
Abstract: A programmable read-only memory and a method for operating the read-only memory are described. The memory contains at least one memory cell field with a plurality of memory cells, in addition to a plurality of memory segments formed of memory cells in which data and/or program parts can be stored. The memory further contains at least one redundant memory segment formed of memory cells and is assigned to one of the memory segments. The memory segment and the redundant memory segments assigned to the memory segment together form a memory block, in which all the memory segments have the same data content. At least one selection circuit for controlling the transfer of data and/or program parts to or from the memory segments of a memory block is assigned to each memory block.

  • Patent number: 6320471
Abstract: An electrical circuit having an oscillator and additional structural elements that are connected to the oscillator. In an iterative method, upon variation of circuit parameters of the additional structural elements, the following steps are carried out for each instance of the circuit parameters: a stability analysis of the circuit is carried out for each respective instance, and if the circuit oscillates, a first value is assigned to the instance in a matrix in which all the instances being examined are stored. Otherwise, a second value is assigned to the instance in the matrix.

  • Patent number: 6212102
Abstract: An EEPROM with two-transistor memory cells with source-side selection, and a method for triggering such a EEPROM are described. The EEPROM and the method are distinguished in that the programming voltage required to program a memory cell is delivered via a source line. As a result the EEPROM can be protected in a simple way against unintended loss of the data stored in it.

  • Patent number: 5209204
Abstract: A fuel distributor, including a plug connection which serves to provide electrical contact for the fuel injection valves comprising a socket and a plug. The plug connection that is located directly on the valve connection neck, in a region between two sealing elements, that seal off a connection between the fuel distributor and the fuel injection valve, so that the fuel-carrying region is sealed off from the guide conduit, which in turn is sealed off from external influences such as splashing water. Thus, even the plug connections located in the region of the guide conduit are protected. The fuel distributor is especially suitable for fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing internal combustion engines with externally supplied ignition.

  • Patent number: 5167147
Abstract: An air-measuring device for measuring the air mass taken in by an internal combustion engine which has a main flow channel, having a venturi section, and a temperature-dependent measuring resistor arranged in a bypass channel, the bypass channel opening upstream and downstream of the smallest flow cross-section of the venturi section in the direction of flow, in order to reduce the noise component in the measurement signal of the measuring resistor a channel region with an inlet and outlet opening is formed in the bypass channel, which channel region accommodates the measuring resistor in a central portion. The channel region is designed in such a way that the ratio of the flow cross-section of the central portion to the smallest cross-section of the venturi section is from 1:8 to 1:25 and the ratio of the cross-section to the cross-section of the inlet and outlet opening is in each case from 1:1 to 1:2.

  • Patent number: 5131857
Abstract: A power strip including plug housings, in which first contact elements can be connected to second contact elements of an electrically actuatable unit. The electically actuatable units are movable with play in a mounted state relative to the power strip housing. In the power strip, one damping element is disposed between each plug housing and the power strip housing, and in engine operation this damping element damps the motions of the plug housing relative to the power strip housing or of the first electrically conductive contact elements relative to the second electrically conductive contact elements, and thus prevents excessive wear at the contact elements. The embodiment of the power strip is particularly suitable for supplying electrical power jointly to electrically actuatable fuel injection valves.

  • Patent number: 4960998
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the continuous determination of gas-carried alpha activity caused by the decay of thorium, uranium, plutonium and their decay products. In this method, the gas-carried alpha activity from the decay chains of radon 220 and/or radon 222 is subtracted from the total gas-carried alpha activity. The alpha activity from radon 220 and/or radon 222 is measured after an absorber which only transmits the alpha rays of polonium 212 or of polonium 212 and polonium 214.
