  • Patent number: 8746143
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for compensating for inking differences between setpoint color values and actual color values in offset printing presses having at least one inking unit and a control computer. The control computer controls the printing speed of the offset printing press and the temperature control of rollers in the inking unit of the offset printing press. The control computer is set up in such a way that, if an inking difference is detected between the setpoint color values and the actual color values, a combined control operation including a change in the printing speed and the temperature in the inking unit is performed in order to compensate for the inking difference. A printing press having the apparatus is also provided.

  • Patent number: 8358434
Abstract: A method and a system for producing a printing form for a printing process on a printing press, produces a first printing form based on first image data and prints a printing image on a printing substrate with the printing form. Printing presses without inking zones do not permit regulation of quantitative ink supply with inking zones screws. To permit a printer to manipulate ink density on a printing substrate even after exposure of a first printing plate within a printing press without inking zones, correction values are generated in the vicinity of the printing press in regions on the basis of at least a printing image printed on the printing substrate. The correction values are then used for correcting printing originals on which printing is based and/or screened image data and at least one second printing form is produced on the basis of at least the correction values.

  • Patent number: 7966931
Abstract: A sheet-fed offset printing press prints multiple colors on both sides of sheets, preferably on sheets of paper. A first row of in-line printing units print a first side of the sheet, before the sheets are turned in a reversing device, which is followed by a second row of in-line printing units for printing the other side of the sheets. The second row of in-line printing units is followed by one or more varnishing units that are arranged in such a way or include varnishing blanket cylinders that are arranged in such a way that the front sides and the back sides of the passing sheets are varnished.

  • Patent number: 6578846
Abstract: A device for transporting a sheet for a sheet-processing machine in a processing direction includes first grippers for gripping the sheet at a leading gripper edge, as viewed in the direction of processing, the first grippers revolving in a first direction during operation. Also provided is a cylinder bearing the first grippers, and having a support surface formed at the circumference thereof for supporting the sheet gripped by the first grippers.

  • Patent number: 6535789
Abstract: A method for preventing limit values from being exceeded in sheet-fed printing machines includes acquiring values relevant to the printing process with respect to individual sheets, and processing those values so that predetermined limit values are maintained, detecting the development trend of a relevant value in the course of a series of sheets, and initiating measures when a change in the values occurs that would lead to a limit value being exceeded in an additional predetermined number of sheets if a continuation of the trend occurs; and a device for performing the method.

  • Patent number: 6047961
Abstract: A sheet sensor arrangement for a sheet printing machine and particularly for a turning device of a sheet printing machine, which comprises at least one hollow cylindrical drum (3; 4), which has a gripper system to transport and/or temporarily store individual sheets (5). A sensor arrangement which is not very susceptible to contamination and has a mechanically simple structure is comprised of the fact that the cylindrical wall of the drum (3; 4) has at least one opening which allows light to pass through, and that a sheet sensor is formed by a light barrier (9, 10, 11), which has a light beam which, in at least one angle position of the drum, is directed from the inside at the opening which allows light to pass through. In addition, a corresponding process for optical monitoring of sheets in a sheet printing machine is indicated.

  • Patent number: 5944431
Abstract: A sheet sensor device for a sheet-fed printing press having a sheet-reversing arrangement, said sheet-reversing arrangement being comprised essentially of a storage drum, a reversing drum and gripper systems mounted on these drums, so that a sheet sensor device comprising a transmitter and a receiver is arranged in the sheet-reversing area formed between the storage drum and the reversing drum, and that the transmitter is arranged on the one side of the printing machine, and the receiver is arranged on the other side of the printing machine, outside of the sheet-travel area.
