  • Patent number: 9803544
Abstract: A heat exchanger for an internal combustion engine includes a first flow channel; a second flow channel arranged adjacent to the first flow channel; a line separate from the second flow channel; and a valve channel in which an adjustable valve element is disposed. The valve channel is arranged upstream of the first and second flow channels and an inlet channel is arranged upstream of the valve channel in a flow direction of exhaust gas. The valve element includes a baffle plate, the baffle plate having an end portion that extends diagonally in the valve channel with respect to the flow axis of the first flow channel. The valve element includes a flap that is pivotably mounted at the end portion of the baffle plate such that the flap is pivotable about an axis that extends in a direction of a width of a common housing.

  • Patent number: 8602006
Abstract: The invention relates to a valve, especially a rotary piston valve (1), for controlling the temperature and quantity of the returned exhaust gas in internal combustion engines. Said valve comprises a valve housing (2) and a control element (3) disposed therein which interacts with a valve face (14) configured in the valve housings (2), the control element (3) having a conical surface area (10).

  • Patent number: 7721792
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust gas heat exchanger comprising a bundle of pipes which consists of exhaust gas pipes and a bypass channel, and a housing which can be cross-flown by an aqueous cooling agent. The bundle of pipes and the bypass channel joins in a common exhaust gas inlet, wherein an exhaust gas valve is arranged for controlling the exhaust gas flow through the bundle of pipes or the bypass channel. According to the invention, the bypass channel is embodied as a special steel tube (10) comprising a covering (11) which is made of a high-temperature resistant plastic and wherein the housing, which can be cross-flown by the cooling agent, is arranged.

  • Patent number: 7168419
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust gas heat exchanger comprising a bundle of pipes consisting of exhaust gas pipes and a bypass channel in a common housing. The pipe bundle is arranged in a first chamber that is crossflown by a liquid coolant and the bypass channel is arranged in a second, separate chamber. The pipe bundle and the by pass channel lead into a common exhaust gas inlet area and a common exhaust gas outlet area in which an exhaust gas valve actuated by a servo-drive is arranged, said valve guiding the exhaust gas flow through the pipe bundle or the bypass channel. According to the invention, the exhaust gas valve has a movable closing organ that is resistant to bending, said organ being preferably embodied as a pivoting semi-flap that is fixed with a longitudinal side to a drive shaft that is arranged crosswise relative to the exhaust gas flow.

  • Patent number: 7032577
Abstract: The invention relates to an exhaust gas heat exchanger (2) comprising a bundle of pipes (21) consisting of exhaust gas pipes (22) and a bypass channel (23) in a common housing. The pipe bundle is arranged in a first chamber that is crossflown by a liquid coolant and the bypass channel is arranged in a second, separate chamber. The pipe bundle and the bypass channel lead into a common exhaust gas inlet area and a common exhaust gas outlet area in which an exhaust gas valve actuated by a servo-drive is arranged, said valve guiding the exhaust gas flow through the pipe bundle or the bypass channel. According to the invention, the exhaust gas valve has a movable closing organ that is resistant to bending, said organ being preferably embodied as a pivoting semi-flap (27) that is fixed with a longitudinal side (28) to a drive shaft (30) that is arranged crosswise relative to the exhaust gas flow (A).
