  • Patent number: 9025596
Abstract: In one aspect, a method of sending traffic in a telecommunications network is provided. The telecommunications network includes a first branch network, a second branch network, intermediate system, and a head office network having a server. The first and second branch networks communicatively connected to the head network via the intermediate system. Traffic for the second branch network is received at a first branch network. The traffic at the first branch network is modified such that the intermediate network forwards the traffic to the head network. The intermediate network recognizes that the traffic is for the second branch network. The traffic is received at the head network, and the traffic is modified at the head network such that the intermediate network forwards the traffic to the second branch network.

  • Patent number: 8908684
Abstract: A transmission mode selection for packet-oriented transmission of useful data between a first and a second communication device is provided, where lists of transmission modes for the communication devices are transmitted to a quality-of-service device. The quality-of-service device uses available transmission resources to select one or more transmission modes from the lists such that the quality of service, which is dependent on the selected transmission modes, can be assured by the available transmission resources. The selected transmission modes are transmitted to a connection controller which prompts further selection of a transmission mode from the transmission modes for the communication devices. The useful data are then transmitted between the communication devices using the transmission mode selected by the further selection.

  • Patent number: 8886660
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for tracking changes in a collection of web documents, for example, provided by a web site. The web documents are retrieved at a first assigned point in time and a second assigned point in time. Then a similarity measure for a combination of a retrieved web document at a first assigned point in time and a retrieved web document at a second assigned point in time is calculated for determining pairs of corresponding web documents. By comparing said calculated similarity measure of a pair of corresponding web documents with predetermined thresholds for the similarity measure a change in the content of the corresponding web document between the first assigned point in time and second assigned point in time is detected. Instead of referring to identifiers like URLs for web pages the content similarities of web pages are considered. The proposed strategy facilitates the work of marketing analysts.

  • Patent number: 8775542
Abstract: A method for the user-based processing of electronic messages comprising file attachments is provided. According to the method, a file attachment of an electronic message is replaced by a memory location link to a selected memory location in a user file system and the file attachment of the electronic message is saved in the selected memory location of the user file system. This permits the memory capacity that is required for storing data attachments to be significantly reduced in a user-friendly system.

  • Patent number: 8688077
Abstract: The invention relates to a communication system and a method for providing a mobile telecommunication service. A communication network transmits messages on the basis of at least one internet protocol. A network connection computer connects an access network for mobile computers and the communication network. The access network is equipped with several access points comprising corresponding access point connection computers, which are configured to create a communication connection between variable access points and the mobile computers. An authorization verification computer establishes and manages trusted relationships between several communication elements. The network connection computer and the access point connection computer are configured to execute packet filtering during the receipt and transmission of messages for the secure protection of the communication system.

  • Patent number: 8494862
Abstract: At least one transaction and at least one transaction parameter that is allocated thereto are determined based on at least one user statement in order to trigger at least one first and second background application via a universal language dialogue system, first transactions and first transaction parameters being assigned to the first background application and second transactions and second transaction parameters being associated with the second background application. The first and second transactions as well as the first and second transaction parameters are linked together via a universal dialogue specification which is evaluated to determine the at least one transaction and at least on associated transaction parameter in order to trigger at least one of the background application via the universal language dialogue system.

  • Patent number: 8467299
Abstract: In the method, starting from a central management component as the basis it is determined in a first step whether a network component is a management-capable network component. If this is the case, the management-capable network component is classified on the basis of services provided in the past by the management-capable network component. A classification is made here into the classes host, router and switch.

  • Patent number: 8223762
Abstract: A private IP address is converted into a public IP address in a communications network without adapting a client software. The conversion of the private IP addresses into the public IP addresses is carried out via a network address translation. The private IP address of each terminal included in a payload of the IP data packet is convertible into a corresponding public IP address and, if necessary, vice-versa.

  • Patent number: 8208374
Abstract: A respective number of terminals are managed by network agents. When initializing a connection between two terminals, the network agent initializes the connection if the relevant terminals are arranged in the same bandwidth-uncritical area. If one of the terminals is arranged in a bandwidth-critical area, the network agent ascertains the requested bandwidth and sends a resource request to an associated bandwidth broker, which uses a topology function and knowledge of bandwidth used by existing connections to check the availability of the requested bandwidth in the bandwidth-critical area of the communication network. The use of network agents and the fact that resource requests are no longer required in the communication network dynamically reduces the load on bandwidth brokers and superordinate bandwidth brokers to a significant extent.

  • Patent number: 7903636
Abstract: According to the invention, a power characteristic information concerning a power characteristic profile of a target terminal is transmitted to a base terminal, before transferring signaling of a connection set up from a base terminal to a target terminal. As a result of the connection set up signaling, a power characteristic request is transferred based on the power characteristic information.

  • Patent number: 7844817
Abstract: A network access device checks communication data flows coming into a network for specific authorization information. The quality of service class (QOS) with which a flow is retransmitted from the network access device through the network is determined by the result of the check. Each end device that transmits a flow to the network access device can first request authorization for the flow from a gate keeper and resource manager mechanism of the network. The mechanism returns specific authorization information which the end device includes in the flow before the flow is transmitted to the network access device. In one embodiment, only if an incoming flow is determined to have the specific authorization information will the network access device allow the flow to be retransmitted through the network with a particular quality of service (QOS) class.
