  • Publication number: 20040266344
Abstract: An combined satellite and terrestrial antenna system for a structure is disclosed. The antenna system that includes a terrestrial antenna, a satellite antenna, a satellite receiver, and an AM/FM receiver. The terrestrial antenna includes a multi-band terrestrial antenna mounted on a mounting assembly including a low noise amplifier circuit and a bezel. The bezel is adapted to contain the low noise amplifier. The satellite antenna is concentrically mounted with respect to the terrestrial antenna. The mounting assembly is connected to the satellite receiver for reception of satellite and satellite retransmitted signals by a satellite-terrestrial-retransmitted-satellite cable. The mounting assembly is also connected to the AM/FM receiver for reception of AM/FM terrestrial signals by a terrestrial AM/FM cable. A method for mounting the combined satellite and terrestrial antenna system on a structure is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20040263403
Abstract: An antenna system is disclosed. The antenna system includes at least one first and second antenna. The at least one first antenna is located about a first portion of a mobile structure and is capable of receiving satellite and terrestrial re-transmitted satellite signals. The at least one second antenna is located about a second portion of a mobile structure and is capable of receiving satellite and terrestrial re-transmitted satellite signals. Either the at least one first or second antenna receives the satellite and terrestrial re-transmitted satellite signals and the other of the at least one first or second antenna becomes operative when the satellite and terrestrial re-transmitted satellite signals being received by the at least one first or second antenna is obstructed. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.

  • Publication number: 20040258179
Abstract: A digital RF receiver and method for providing regional data to a user acquired from a large geographic data broadcast. The RF receiver receives an RF signal containing a stream of broadcast data. The stream of broadcast data includes primary data and more geographically limited regional data. The receiver includes a device for selecting a user specific region, and a decoder for acquiring the regional data. The receiver further includes a data processor for processing the regional data and the selected user specific region to obtain regional data designated for the user specific region, and an output for outputting the regional data pertaining to the selected user specific region.

  • Publication number: 20040214540
Abstract: A digital radio receiver is provided having first and second inputs for receiving first and second signals. The radio receiver also includes a first variable gain circuit for adjusting one of gain and attenuation of the first input signal, and a second variable gain circuit for adjusting one of gain and attenuation of the second input signal. A detector is coupled to an output for one of the first and second variable gain circuits for detecting signal strength, and an offset circuit is coupled to the first and second variable gain circuits. The offset circuit controls at least one of the first and second variable gain circuits based on the detected signal strength and offset.

  • Publication number: 20040184614
Abstract: A method and radio receiver are provided for receiving and deciphering RF signals having encrypted data information relevant to the receiver environment. According to one aspect of the present invention, the receiver includes an input for receiving an RF signal having a data stream including a key selector and encrypted data including a message, and a demodulator for demodulating the data stream and outputting encrypted data including the message. The receiver further includes a data decryption circuit including memory for storing one or more groups of decryption keys based on a characteristic of the receiver environment. The data decryption circuit selects a group decryption key based on the key selector and decrypts the message based on the selected group decryption key.
