  • Patent number: 6187491
Abstract: Electrophotographic charge generating elements comprise a solid electrolyte layer having improved image discrimination. The solid electrolyte layer includes a complex of a silsesquioxane and a charge carrier, and further includes nondiffusible acid scavengers in an amount of at least 0.2 weight %. The acid scavengers are nondiffusible tertiary arylamines having a pKa of at least 4.

  • Patent number: 6066425
Abstract: Electrophotographic charge generating elements comprise a solid electrolyte layer having improved image discrimination and layer adhesion. The solid electrolyte layer includes a complex of a silsesquioxane and a charge carrier, and is adhered to an underlying photoconductor layer using a primer layer that includes specific addition polymers. This primer layer has a resistivity of at least 10.sup.10 ohms/square and contains substantially no free ACTIVE moieties as defined herein. Such groups, when present in the primer layer, appear to reduce image discrimination.

  • Patent number: 5618950
Abstract: A sulfone charge transport agent and a multilayered electrophotographic element in which at least one of said layers includes polymeric binder and the sulfone charge transport agent. The general structure of the charge transport agent is: ##STR1## R is alkyl or cycloalkyl having from 1 to about 10 carbons, or aryl or heteroaryl having a total of carbons and heteroatoms of from 6 to about 12. T is alkyl having from 1 to 4 carbons.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5300385
Abstract: Certain chemical compounds, which are aromatic heterocyclic-substituted derivatives of 4H-thiopyran-1,1,-dioxide given by the formula (I) wherein Het is a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring system containing at least one 5-membered heterocyclic aromatic ring; and R is an alkyl, aralkyl, or cycloalkyl group of 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, or an aryl group of 6 to about 12 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring system containing at least one 5-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring, are electron-transport agents. These compounds exhibit good speed and toe voltage properties in electrophotographic elements.
