  • Publication number: 20180189088
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide an approach for attaching a pluggable agent to a virtual machine (VM) in a networked computing environment. In an embodiment, a VM is provisioned with a base operating system. This base operating system is a base operating system that has a file system that is adapted to run any of a plurality of agents. In response to a request for the VM to perform a service, an agent file template of an agent that is configured to perform the service on the VM is obtained. This agent is installed on the VM by modifying the file system of the provisioned base operating system to include a set of files in the agent file template.

  • Publication number: 20180186328
Abstract: An occupant restraint system of a vehicle includes a roof rail airbag that is located at a roof rail of the vehicle and above a door of the vehicle and that is configured to deploy in an outboard direction. A deployment device, when triggered, deploys the roof rail airbag. An actuator, when triggered, actuates a deployable reaction surface (i) from a first state where the deployable reaction surface is stowed behind interior door trim and does not block any part of a window opening of the door when viewed from inboard of the deployable reaction surface (ii) to a second state where the deployable reaction surface blocks at least a portion of the window opening of the door when viewed from inboard of the deployable reaction surface.

  • Patent number: 10007117
Abstract: An imaging light guide has a waveguide and an in-coupling diffractive optic formed on the waveguide and disposed to direct image-bearing light beams into the waveguide. An array of two or more at least partially reflective surfaces are oriented in parallel and disposed to expand the image-bearing light beams from the in-coupling diffractive optic in a first dimension and to direct the expanded image-bearing light beams toward an out-coupling diffractive optic. The out-coupling diffractive optic is formed on the waveguide and disposed to expand the image-bearing light beams in a second dimension orthogonal to the first dimension and to direct the image-bearing light beams toward a viewer eyebox.

  • Publication number: 20180157280
Abstract: Methods and systems facilitate network communications between a wireless network-connected thermostat and a cloud-based management server in a manner that promotes reduced power usage and extended service life of an energy-storage device of the thermostat, while at the same time accomplishing timely data transfer between the thermostat and the cloud-based management server for suitable and time-appropriate control of an HVAC system. The thermostat further comprises powering circuitry configured to: extract electrical power from one or more HVAC control wires in a manner that does not require a “common” wire; supply electrical power for thermostat operation; recharge the energy-storage device (if needed) using any surplus extracted power; and discharge the energy-storage device to assist in supplying electrical power for thermostat operation during intervals in which the extracted power alone is insufficient for thermostat operation.

  • Publication number: 20180152373
Abstract: Systems and methods relating to communication within a fabric network are presented. The fabric network includes one or more logical networks that enables devices connected to the fabric to communicate with each other using various profiles known to the devices. A device sending a message may follow a general message format to encode the message so that other devices in the fabric may understand the message regardless of which logical networks the devices are connected to. Within the message format, a payload of data may be included for the receiving device to forward, store, or process the message. The format and the contents of the payload may vary according to a header within the payload that indicates a profile and a message type within the profile. Using the profile and message type, the receiving devices may decode the message to process the message.

  • Publication number: 20180132543
Abstract: A garment for wear by a person and a garment system of garments includes bands and elastic portions to apply tension and support to muscle groups when the garment is worn by a wearer. The garments include a vest with crossed back bands within the garment that are selectively fastenable to the exterior of the vest to exert tension from the shoulders to the hips. Also included is a cape with shoulder straps and hip straps to apply further tension when attached to the vest or another garment. A shirt includes a central back panel and one or more shoulder straps, the central panel extending to side straps at the hip. Shorts with a spiral strap apply tension from the body core to the leg of the wearer. Shirts and tops for women including for maternity wear include support specific to a woman's body. Some of the shirts, tops, shorts and vests have wearer adjustable straps to vary the tension applied by the straps.

  • Publication number: 20180087815
Abstract: A system for detecting if a refrigerant in an HVACR system is contaminated. The system includes a detector that detectes a property of a refrigerant gas in a vapor space and compares the detected property with a reference property for uncontaminated refrigerant gas. The detector determines that a contaminant is present in the refrigerant gas if the detected property is different from the reference property. The property detected by the dectector can be either a speed of sound through the refrigerant gas or a thermal conductivity of the refrigerant gas. Also disclosed is a method for detecting contamination of refrigerant gas in a HVACR system that includes detecting, by a detector, a property of refrigerant gas in a vapor space of the HVACR system.

  • Publication number: 20180017061
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a compressor system operable for compressing a working fluid such as air. A conditioner is positioned upstream of the compressor to reduce the humidity and may in certain forms control a temperature of the working fluid entering the compressor. An aftercooler and an oil cooler is positioned downstream of the compressor. A first heat exchange system may direct water from a source through the conditioner to the aftercooler and oil cooler. An oil heat exchange circuit directs oil from the compressor to the oil cooler and then to a regenerator prior to reentry into the compressor. • Publication number: 20180003977
Abstract: A head-mounted imaging apparatus has a projector that is energizable to project image-bearing light and a light-conditioning element that directs and shapes the image-bearing light from the projector to form a real image plane. A lenslet array is positioned adjacent to the real image plane and optically disposed at substantially one focal length away from a curved mirror, wherein the surface of the curved mirror is substantially spherical. There is a beamsplitter in the path of light from the real image at the lenslet array and disposed to direct at least a portion of the light from the real image toward the curved mirror. The curved mirror directs light from the beamsplitter to form a virtual image for an observer who wears the head-mounted imaging apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20170371160
Abstract: A head-mounted imaging apparatus includes a frame that houses a left-eye and a right-eye imaging apparatus. Each imaging apparatus forms a virtual image to an eye of an observer and includes a projector, a planar waveguide, and an optical coupler. The projector is supported by a temple member of the frame and emits a central projected light beam along a projection axis. The planar waveguide accepts the projected light beam through an input aperture and forms an expanded light beam that is output from an output aperture and directed toward the observer's eye. The optical coupler receives the central projected light beam along a first axis that is at an obtuse angle with respect to the waveguide surface, and the optical coupler redirects the central projected light beam along a second axis that is at an acute angle with respect to the waveguide surface.

  • Publication number: 20170369330
Abstract: A system for creating targeted vanadium oxide (VO2) nanoparticle compositions comprising a stock reaction mixture that is a fluid combination of at least one vanadium source combined with at least one dopant source. Each dopant source contains at least one target dopant element. The ratio of the number of vanadium atoms in the vanadium source to the number of target dopant element atoms in the dopant source is less than or equal to 10:1. A solvent that is compatible with said stock reaction mixture is selected. A pressure regulator increases the pressure of the solvent and the stock reaction mixture to between 0 and 5,000 psi. A heating element increases the temperature of the solvent to between 50 and 500° C. A mixing unit receives and mixes a continuous flow of stock reaction mixture with solvent to heat the stock reaction mixture and initiate formation of the targeted vanadium oxide (VO2) nanoparticle composition.

  • Patent number: 9846443
Abstract: A thermostat may include one or more temperature sensors, a processor configured to operate in a sleep mode and a wake mode, and a Wi-Fi chip that wirelessly communicates with a thermostat management server. The Wi-Fi chip may be configured to receive data packets from the thermostat management server while the processor operates in the sleep mode, and determine a priority level of the received data packets.
