    Abstract: Gastrointestinal mucus from patients suffering from cystic fibrosis has been found to contain large amounts of chondroitin sulfate polymer. This finding indicates that the enzyme chondroitinase is useful for preventing gastrointestinal mucus from accumulating in cystic fibrosis patients, and subjects suffering from other diseases or conditions characterized by excess mucus secretion.
