  • Patent number: 5284030
Abstract: In a flat knitting machine equipped with a manually movable handlebar (11) which is oriented parallel to a needle bed, the eccentrically mounted handlebar (11) is connected to a pivoting lever (15) which is the carrier of an armature (19) for a stationarily arranged electromagnet which can be excited via a control device and which, in the excited state, keeps the handlebar in an end position. The arrangement is such that, when the handlebar (11) is struck from above, the magnetic coupling can be released and it is also thereby possible to switch off the machine drive by hand in the quickest way possible.

  • Patent number: 4790153
Abstract: In a safety device, in particular for flat-bed knitting machines, with which, by means of a shutoff device, stoppage of the carriages associated with a drive apparatus of the machines in the event of a change in the power of the carriages as compared with applicable normal operation resulting from disruptions in removal of the goods, loop formation and yarn insertion, excessively high loop tightness specification or the like, is effected. A measuring device is provided for detecting a torque-proportional variable of the drive mechanism. Actual values of the torque-proportional variable are deliverable to a central processing unit and an adjustable comparator device, and the comparator device is provided by the central processing unit, with threshold values for this torque-proportional variable, serving as processed actual value for the torque-proportional variable. Finally, by means of the comparator device, the shutoff device is triggerable as soon as the applicable threshold value is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 4774818
Abstract: A device for the determination of the position of leading or trailing draw-down elements which can be shifted to operated in opposite directions in flat-bed knitting machines has a single step motor for shifting the draw-down elements, a position sensor and a switching element movable in relation to each other and cooperating with each other, the switching element indicating a basic position of the two draw-down elements. So that in such a device besides the basis position of the two draw-down elements the shifted position, i.e. which of the two draw-down elements is in the draw-down position, can be machine-internally determined, a second switching element is provided, which is operationally connected with the position sensor, the second switching element and the position sensor being movable in relation to each other and the second switching element being synchronously movable with the first switching element.

  • Patent number: 4723423
Abstract: A flat-bed knitting machine has been described which is provided with needle sinkers arranged in a knitting cam system of a cam box carriage featuring several cams adjustable by means of stepping motors and having an electronic control unit, which features a storage device for controlling the stepping motors. In order to make the knitting density variable not only in the longitudinal direction, i.e. uniformly as a whole, row by row, but also in the transverse direction across the knitting with knitting machines of this type, the stepping motors are controlled by the storage device, one motor of which, in each case, is associated with a pair of needle sinkers consisting of preceding and trailing needle sinkers during the stroke of the cam box carriage and in synchronism with the individual needles.

  • Patent number: 4715198
Abstract: A control magnet assembly (10) for a pattern apparatus in knitting machines, for electrically controlled needle selection, has selection magnets (29, 30), which are provided with permanent magnetic retaining pole zones and with control pole zones with which control coils (42, 43; 52, 53) that are triggerable in accordance with the pattern are associated, and against which armature elements (26) operatively connected with the needles (18) can be brought. In a control magnet assembly (10) of this kind, optimal magnetic conditions in the control pole zone are to be provided such that a uniform and reliable throwing off of the appropriate armature elements (26) is always attained. To this end, a measuring head (15, 25) is provided for detecting the magnitude of the magnetic field in the control pole zone, and a circuit layout is provided between the measuring head (15, 25) and the control coil (42, 43, 52, 53).

  • Patent number: 4594585
Abstract: An electromagnetically-controlled flat knitting machine has a supervising system for checking the functional readiness of a setting magnet of the machine. The supervising system comprises a microprocessor with a detecting and signalling device, and a detector for measuring closed and open circuits. Such measurements are collected periodically from the microprocessor through an intermediate unit and are signalled on the signalling device. The individual setting magnets can be checked for functional readiness both in the case of a stationary as well as a running machine without these having to be specially actuated (i.e. energized) for this purpose. To this end, a direct voltage of an intensity less than the response voltage of the winding thereof is applied to the setting magnet concerned.

  • Patent number: 4554802
Abstract: A carriage 14 is reciprocable along a needle bed of a flat knitting machine and carries a needle cam. A pair of stitch cams 12 and 13 are adjustably supported by the carriage 14 and are disposed so as to trail behind the needle cam in alternate strokes of the carriage, respectively. An adjustment mechanism 11 includes a stepping motor 38 (FIG. 3) which adjusts the trailing stitch cam 12 or 13 not only at the beginning of the respective stroke but also during the course of the stroke itself, thereby enabling the stitch density to be varied within each row of the knitted article as well as from row to row.
