  • Patent number: 11974026
Abstract: An example embodiment relates to a method comprising: receiving (700), by a client device, information about a scene associated with a 3D presentation for initiating viewport rendering by an application, wherein said scene is hosted by a server as one or more encoded 2D patches, said 2D patches being projections of the 3D representation of the scene; providing (702) the server with information for selecting 2D patches required to reconstruct at least one segment of the 3D scene as visible in a given viewport; obtaining (704), from the server, one or more video bitstreams generated based on the selected 2D patches and related metadata for extracting said 2D patches from said one or more video bitstreams; and rendering (706), by the client device, the given viewport as a sub-segment of the 3D representation of the scene based on said one or more 2D patches and the related metadata.

  • Patent number: 9298362
Abstract: An approach is provided for sharing media in a multi-device environment. A group of devices for sharing one or more media files is determined. A shared media manager causes joining of one or more displays of the devices. The shared media manager then determines to generate a common user interface for presenting the one or more media files on the joined one or more displays.

  • Patent number: 8812990
Abstract: An approach is provided for presenting a global view of content. A content mapping platform determines a viewing location of a device with respect to a user interface, wherein the user interface depicts a three-dimensional object in which a surface closest to the viewing location is transparent to show, at least in part, an opposite surface of the three-dimensional object. Further, the content mapping platform then determines at least one target location associated with at least one content item. Furthermore, the content mapping platform causes, at least in part, a rendering of the at least one content item on the opposite surface of the three-dimensional object based, at least in part, on the at least one target location.

  • Publication number: 20120221552
Abstract: An approach is provided for presenting a global view of desired information at specific locations that correspond to the desired information with respect to a start position. An element of a user interface receiving a search parameter enables processing of the search parameter to yield location information of the desired information. The location or locations of the desired information are then presented to a user on the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20110258585
Abstract: A method, apparatus, computer program and user interface wherein the method includes displaying, on a display of an apparatus, a first plurality of content items, over a first period of time, in response to the apparatus being positioned in a first position; wherein during the first period of time a first subset of the first plurality of content items is removed from the display and a second subset of the first plurality of content items is added to the display; and displaying a second plurality of content items, over a second period of time, in response to an apparatus being positioned in a second position; wherein during the second period of time a first subset of the second plurality of content items is removed from the display and a second subset of the second plurality of content items is added to the display.
