Patent number: 11518573Abstract: A system and method palletize containers having electrical terminals for charging electronic devices packaged therein. First, a stacking pattern is determined on the basis of the sizes, shapes, and locations of electrical terminals on both the pallets and the containers to be stacked. These data may be read, for example, with a computer vision system that uses an articulating robotic arm, and may be encoded in a two-dimensional barcode on each pallet and/or container. Next, the robotic arm stacks the container so that its terminals make electrical contact with terminals on the pallet, or on a previously-stacked layer of containers. Then, the placement is tested to ensure that a good electrical connection exists vertically through the entire stack. Once the pallet is finalized, all electronic devices carried thereon may be simultaneously charged during transit or storage.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2020Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Sathish Bikumala, Jace Files, Ares Sakamoto

Patent number: 11159035Abstract: A container for an electronic device having a battery and a method of maintaining electrical charge in the battery are described. The container includes a cushioning material, such as molded expanded foam, to receive and secure the device (e.g. for shipping or storage) and to position its battery charging interface near a charging terminal within the container. The charging terminal itself cushions the device, and is electrically connected to charging terminals on the top and bottom of the container, such as a plate on the top and a pogo pin on the bottom. Connecting the charging terminals to a power source supplies power to the charging terminal, hence the battery charging interface of the device either via a physical contact or wireless power transfer. The container and method may be used to deliver the electronic device fully charged to an end user.Type: GrantFiled: December 31, 2019Date of Patent: October 26, 2021Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Sathish Bikumala, Jace Files, Ares Sakamoto

Patent number: 10817077Abstract: Context aware input masking by a touchscreen touch controller filters touch inputs by a totem at a touchscreen to those detected touches relevant to a user interface presented on a touchscreen display. For example, a rotational user interface that accepts values based upon the rotational orientation of a totem has rotational orientation inputs sent from the touch controller while linear inputs are withheld. As another example, a linear user interface that accepts values based upon a position along a length of the totem has linear inputs sent from the touch controller while rotational inputs are withheld.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2018Date of Patent: October 27, 2020Assignee: Dell Products, L.P.Inventors: Michiel Sebastiaan Emanuel Petrus Knoppert, Yagiz Can Yildiz, Jace Files

Publication number: 20200253187Abstract: In some examples, a trap to electrocute a pest may include a logic board. The logic board may create an open circuit using two electrical contacts in touch with two conductive plates in a container located in the trap. A pest entering the container may touch the two conductive plates, causing the circuit to close. Based on determining that the circuit was closed, the logic board may determine that a pest entered the trap. The logic board may cause a shutter inside the trap to move from an approximately horizontal position to an approximately vertical position, thereby causing a portion of a door of the container to close by causing two latch strikes of the door to engage with the two jaws of the container. The circuit may send a wireless notification message, indicating that the pest was captured in the container, over a wireless network to a computing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2020Publication date: August 13, 2020Inventors: Jace Files, John Trevor Morrison, Shivshanker Somashekar Naimpally

Patent number: 10452135Abstract: A display device viewing angle compensation system includes a computing device that is coupled to a display device and an image capturing device. The computing device is configured to receive at least one image from the image capturing device, analyze the at least one image to detect a first user, and determine a first user viewing angle relative to the display screen. The computing device then determines at least one display screen output modification using the first user viewing angle. The computing device then applies the at least one display screen output modification to the display device to modify at least one display screen output provided on the display screen. The at least one display screen output modification may modify a display screen brightness output, a display screen contrast output and/or a display screen color output provided on the display screen.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2015Date of Patent: October 22, 2019Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Jace Files, John Trevor Morrison, Deeder Aurongzeb

Patent number: 10133423Abstract: A portable information handling system having a touchscreen display selectively rejects touch inputs by removing images from the display associated with the rejected touch inputs after presentation of the images. A touch buffer temporarily stores detected touches, such as by removing touches as the age in the buffer exceeds a threshold. If a trigger event is detected, such as detection of a palm touch or writing stylus, then all or selected of the touch inputs remaining in the buffer are removed as images presented at the display.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2015Date of Patent: November 20, 2018Assignee: DELL PRODUCTS L.P.Inventors: Jace Files, Preeth K. Patent number: 10049614Abstract: An OLED degradation compensation system includes a display system having an OLED display device. A computing device is coupled to the display system and includes an OLED display device adjustment database storing an OLED table that is associated with a usage time of the OLED display device and that includes OLED compensation information that is based upon the usage time. An OLED display device use tracking engine in the computing system determines usage data for the OLED display device. An OLED display device adjustment engine in the computing system retrieves the usage data determined by the OLED display device use tracking engine, uses the usage data to select the OLED table in response to the usage data corresponding to the usage time associated with the OLED table, and causes at least one OLED in the OLED display device to be powered using the OLED compensation information in the OLED table.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2015Date of Patent: August 14, 2018Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Stefan Peana, Jace Files, Kenneth W.
