  • Publication number: 20030157556
Abstract: An aqueous biological fluid preserving composition consists essentially of a chelating agent, such as EDTA, and a cell lysing amount of a cell lysing agent, such as an alcohol. The biological fluid preserving composition can also include a preservative, an antifreeze agent and a non-chelating anticoagulant. The aqueous biological fluid preserving composition is useful for preserving biological fluids collected for later quantitative determination of protein components such as hormones.
