  • Patent number: 5979104
Abstract: A safety fishing line release includes a first arm, a second arm, a spring, a first frictional pad, a second frictional pad, and a peg. The first arm has a tab opening at a first end which is sized to loosely receive a tab disposed at a first end of the second arm. The first and second frictional pads are fastened to the second ends of the first and second arms, respectively. A peg extends outward perpendicularly from the second frictional pad. A spring is inserted between the first and second arms, the spring forces the first frictional pad against the second frictional pad. A second safety feature utilizes a first and second prong to retain the fishing line instead of the peg or in combination with thereof. The safety fishing line release may be further improved by adding a force adjustment device. A second preferred embodiment of the safety fishing line release utilizes a force adjustment device and a simpler design.

  • Patent number: 5950349
Abstract: A safety fishing line release includes a first arm, a second arm, a spring, a first frictional pad, a second frictional pad, and a peg. The first arm has a tab opening at a first end which is sized to loosely receive a tab disposed at a first end of the second arm. The second arm has a pad opening at a second offset which is sized to facilitate insertion of the second end of the first arm therethrough. The first and second frictional pads are fastened to the second ends of the first and second arms, respectively. A peg extends outward perpendicularly from the second frictional pad. A peg opening is formed in the first frictional pad and second end of the first arm. A spring is inserted between the first and second arms, the spring forces the first frictional pad against the second frictional pad such that a fishing line maybe fictionally retained between the first and second frictional pads.

  • Patent number: 5867933
Abstract: A first embodiment of a planar board with strike indicator includes a base, a light source, a tip-up assembly, an actuation assembly, and a switch. An actuating fishing line release is pivotally connected to an plunger. A fishing line is retained by a front fishing line release, the actuating fishing line release, and a quick release guide. When a fish strikes the lure, the actuating fishing line release pivots away from the front fishing line release, the pole is released to display a flag, and the switch is closed to supply the light source with current from an electrical power source. In a second preferred embodiment, the planar board with strike indicator utilizes a pivotal arm instead of an actuation assembly. A second end of the pivotal arm retains the pole of until a fish strike rotates the pivotal arm against the spring force of an arm extension spring until the pole is released. When the pole is released, a switch closes and the light source emits light.

  • Patent number: 5868268
Abstract: A storage container with self-retaining lid includes a lid and a storage container. The structure for attaching the lid can be molded on to the bottom of the storage container, molded to the top of the lid, or molded to the lid and the bottom of the storage container. There are several preferred embodiments of the self-retaining lid. In a first preferred embodiment, the lid has a rim with a recessed cavity for firmly receiving a lip of the storage container. In a second preferred embodiment, a bottom of the storage container has a lip which is sized to be firmly inserted into a sealing cavity of the lid. In a third preferred embodiment, a bottom of the storage container has a plurality of balls which are disposed to mate with a plurality of sockets on the lid. In a fourth preferred embodiment, a plurality of hooks are molded into at least two sides of the container and sized to receive the peripheral edge of the lid.

  • Patent number: 5708674
Abstract: A fabrication process and several structures for an index-guided laser diode formed by IILD or for a multiple wavelength laser array containing stacked semi-conductive active layers with quantum wells. The laser wavelength is varied laterally by effectively inactivating quantum wells which have transition wavelengths longer than that desired in the selected portion of the device. The quantum wells are inactivated by intermixing them with the surrounding high band gap semiconductor layers. To accomplish this intermixing without affecting the active layer in nearby regions, a finite source of impurity inducing or promoting intermixing is located in proximity to the quantum well to be intermixed, and the sample is annealed under conditions which allow for lateral patterning of the impurity-induced intermixing.

  • Patent number: 5123417
Abstract: The method of the present invention comprises displaying an image comprising reflected pulsed doppler signals in real time produced by reflecting a reference pulsed doppler signal, each reflected signal displayed in a color defined by a polar coordinate plot, wherein the polar coordinate plot comprises an origin representing reflected signals of the reference pulsed doppler signal having zero amplitude and zero frequency. The polar coordinate plot further comprises an axis representing reflected signals of the reference pulsed doppler signal having zero frequency, a radius with respect to the origin representing amplitude information of reflected signals of the reference pulsed doppler signal, an angle with respect to the axis representing the frequency of reflected signals of the reference pulsed doppler signal, and a vector displaced 180 degrees from the axis, the vector representing a Nyquist limit of the reference pulsed doppler signal.

  • Patent number: 4524314
Abstract: An automatic guidance device for a self-powered cargo-moving vehicle operated by a vehicle-borne sensor which follows a buried, energized wire path and which includes sensor means mounted either between the fixed and steerable axles or in the front of the fixed axle of the vehicle for guiding the vehicle when it travels in a direction such that the fixed axle precedes the sensor by effectively generating a position error signal relative to the direction of travel, the position error signal provided by a pair of sensing coils whose outputs are combined to generate an error signal V=K(R-F)+F where R and F are the differences of the output of a pair of rear sensor, and a pair of forward sensors, respectively, and K is equal to the ratio of the distance between the forward pair of coils and the virtual sense point to the distance of the rear and forward pairs of coils.
