  • Publication number: 20080067754
Abstract: A pressure gradient rotary sealing system is described with an additional configuration which uses and externally mounted pressure-reducing piston with a differential area to create a pressure differential across the system to reduce the pressureƗvelocity (PV) value to extend seal system life and provide early indication of impending seal failure. This invention is another embodiment of this previous invention offering using a separate externally mounted pressure reducing piston therefore the main body of the wash-pipe top-nut is lighter weight, the system has more fluid capacity, is simpler to assemble, operate and monitor and has a longer service life than previous configurations.

  • Publication number: 20070080501
Abstract: A pressure gradient rotary sealing system is described which uses a pressure-reducing piston in several configurations with surface area differentials thereby reducing the pressure times velocity (PV) value for each of the sequential seals to extend seal system life and provide early indication of impending seal failure.

  • Patent number: 6948904
Abstract: A casing slip lifter includes a frame, upper and lower lift arm assemblies, at least one air cylinder connected to a pipe that rotates to pivot the arm assemblies, and a wrap arm to which the slips are attached and which is coupled to the arm assemblies by a hinge. The arm assemblies include mutually pivotable plates, one of which may be latched to enable the arm assemblies to be raised into one of two raised positions, depending on which the lower arm assembly is locked. The higher position permits the casing lifter to be used when centralizers are installed on the casing.

  • Publication number: 20050206090
Abstract: A seal balancing arrangement for a rotating or reciprocating shaft used in a high pressure and/or high velocity environment includes a plurality of grease balancing chambers each bordered by a pair of seals and filled with extreme pressure grease. The grease is compressed between the additional grease chambers by the movement of the first seal due to pressure acting on this seal by system internal pressures, thereby reducing pressure on the first seal while distributing the pressure between the remaining seals. The balancing chambers are arranged such that the grease in between the seals can be replenished through ports provided in a supporting housing, thereby extending the life of the seal assembly by allowing grease to lubricate the seal faces by extruding grease from each grease chamber.
