  • Patent number: 4518655
Abstract: A fuser member for electrostatographic reproducing apparatus is provided which has a rigid core having coated thereon a thin layer of a composition which comprises the crosslinked product of a mixture of about 100 parts by weight alpha omega-hydroxypolydimethylsiloxane, about 190 to 250 parts by weight total alumina, comprising from about 60 to about 90 percent by weight of finely divided tabular alumina and from about 10 to about 40 percent by weight calcined alumina, together with effective amounts of a crosslinking agent and a crosslinking catalyst.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 25, 1983
Date of Patent: May 21, 1985
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: Arnold W. Henry, Jack C. Azar, John Sagal
  • Patent number: 4388274
Abstract: A novel apparatus for the collection and removal of ozone generated during the operation of machines, such as an electrostatographic copying machine, is disclosed which includes the substantially complete collection of ozone generated by the use of an apertured plenum at the point of ozone generation, and the substantially complete removal of the ozone collected by the use of a fixed bed filtering device which has a large bed area to volume ratio. The disclosed apparatus permits the substantially complete collection of all ozone generated in a relatively small volume of air accomplished with a low pressure drop, so that the ozone collection and removal system would not interfere with the normal operation of the electrostatographic copying machine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 18, 1981
Date of Patent: June 14, 1983
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: John L. Rourke, Jack C. Azar, William K. Murphy
  • Patent number: 4373239
Abstract: A novel fuser roll is disclosed which has a rigid core and having coated on the core a thin layer of a composition which comprises the crosslink product of a mixture of about 100 parts by weight of .alpha.,.omega.-hydroxypolydimethylsiloxane, about 128 to 250 parts by weight of finely divided tabular alumina, about 13 to 50 parts by weight of a finely divided iron oxide, together with effective amounts of a crosslinking agent and a crosslinking catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4372246
Abstract: In an externally heated fusing system, the improvement which comprises providing an externally heated fuser member which is made of a base, a relatively thick layer of a foam of a fluoroelastomer on the base, and a relatively thin layer of a silicone elastomer on the foam layer. The silicone elastomer layer containing an iron oxide filler therein.

  • Patent number: 4299899
Abstract: Disclosed is the use of a novel diester as an additive to a toner, the ester being of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is of the formula ##STR2## being independently selected from the group consisting of phenyl, substituted phenyl, aliphatic and substituted aliphatic. In one embodiment a toner containing this additive is used in a flash fusing system whereby it acts as a stabilizer thus eliminating decomposition of the toner. The additive can also be used to lower the toner melt viscosity and the fusing temperature of the toner.

    Filed: March 3, 1980
Date of Patent: November 10, 1981
    Assignee: Xerox Corporation
Inventors: Jack C. Azar, Russel E. Wellman
  • Patent number: 4049447
Abstract: A finely divided particulate toner composition is provided comprising a colorant and an amorphous, low-melting aromatic polyester wherein the polyester contains within the polymer chain at least about 30 mole percent of at least one divalent radical selected from the group consisting of:A. an asymmetrical arylene radical represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein [Ar] is a divalent arylene radical containing from 6 to about 18 carbon atoms, R is selected from the group of radicals consisting of hydrogen, alkyl containing from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, halo, sulfo and alkali metal salts thereof, nitro, cyano, lower alkoxy, amino, thio lower alkoxy and --N(R').sub.p wherein each R' can be independently hydrogen or lower alkyl and p is an integer of 2 or 3, each m is independently a number from 0 to 1 and n is a number from 0 to 3, andB.
