  • Patent number: 6532615
Abstract: A finishing unit for a vehicle surface treatment apparatus composed of a thin sheet-like pad of material having flexible characteristics, the pad being adapted for contact with a vehicle surface. A buffer member of flexible material is also provided and opposes a surface area on the pad. A stiffening structure is oriented over a majority of the opposing surface areas of the buffer member and the pad to effect a fixed securement of the opposing surface areas together so as to provide an area of substantially less flexibility than the individual flexibility characteristic of each of the buffer member and the pad.

  • Publication number: 20020178525
Abstract: A vehicle washing brush assembly which includes a cylindrical holder configuration having plural cloth or foam pads secured thereto and configured to be centrifugally extended radially outwardly from the holder and into surface treating engagement with a vehicle surface. A first longitudinal length of the holder has a selected number of separate cloth or foams pads oriented around the perimeter of said holder so that the ratio of the number of cloth or foam pads per 360° of the holder to the outer diameter of the holder is in the range of 8 to 12. A second longitudinal length of said holder having a selected number of separate cloth or foam pads oriented around the perimeter of the holder so that the ratio of the number cloth or foam pads per 360° of the holder to the outer diameter of the holder is less than 4.0.

  • Patent number: 5129571
Abstract: An apparatus for forming metal tubes is shown in which a metal strip 2 is passed through the apparatus and is formed by a combination of rollers 17, 17', 19, and dies 15, 24 into a shape defining a tube. Prior to the completion of the formation of the metal strip 2 into a shape defining a tube, a brazing wire 1 is supplied through rollers 8 onto the metal strip 2 between two edge portions thereof to be bonded together. The edge portions are bonded together by means of a frictional wheel 27 rotating at high speed.

  • Patent number: 4943006
Abstract: A sleeper having two pairs of protuberances upstanding from its upper portion, the protuberances of each pair defining between them a rail seat, apertures in the upper wall of the sleeper which extend from the protuberances for a short distance away from the rail seat, four U-shaped clips engaging each sleeper, each U-shaped clip having an upper toe, which bears downwardly on the upper portion of the rail, a heel engaging the upper surface of the sleeper adjacent the relevant aperture, and a lower toe extending through an aperture in the rail and bearing upwardly against the undersurface of a respective protuberance.

  • Patent number: 4819870
Abstract: An assembly is disclosed for securing a railroad rail to a base plate with a resilient fastener clip. The base plate is heated, punched and reforged to provide a clip locking shoulder which includes an aperture through the base plate and an undercut in the shoulder formed by first and second clip engaging surfaces forming a generally V-shaped clip interlock. The fastener clip is of generally U-shape configuration having an upper limb and lower limb interconnected by a heel portion. The lower limb terminates in a clip lock of generally V-shaped configuration complementary to the clip interlock of the clip shoulder and the clip interlock terminates in a clip lead-in formed at an angle complementary to the angulation of the first clip engaging surface.

  • Patent number: 4424935
Abstract: A resilient rail fastener having a clip having a lower leg with a toe at one end and a heel at the other, an upstanding back portion between the heel and an upper leg, and a rectangular locating aperture in at least one of its legs which engages over a rectangular retaining block. The retaining block has pressure imparting means projecting from each side and bearing downwardly on the upper leg of the clip and thereby applies a downward pressure at each end of the lower leg. One end of the lower leg bears downwardly on the rail support and the other end on the rail to impart a toe pressure. The reduced cross-sectional area of the clip where it passes over the retaining block causes high stresses in the legs of the clip as well as at the locality of the clip heel, and the upstanding back portion has less stress than a hairpin clip, and this results in a lower spring rate for the toe clip so that toe pressure is retained upon rail settlement, and stress corrosion is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4209857
Abstract: Two layers or cloth or other material are quilted together by embroidery stitching to outline on the material multiple rows of repetitive glove body shapes. The multiple pre-stitched glove bodies thus formed integrally with the quilted material layers are separated from the material by die cutting around the margins of the glove bodies slightly outside of the stitching lines which delineate them in the quilted material. Cuffs are attached to the separated pre-stitched glove bodies by conventional procedures, followed by turning the gloves inside-out and inspecting the finished gloves. Manual labor commonly involved in sewing glove body pieces together and closing glove bodies is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4000729
Abstract: An ignition system bypass unit for quick and easy connection to an electronic automobile ignition system having malfunctioning electronic components. The unit bypasses electronic ignition components to apply a string of pulses across the primary winding of the engine ignition coil. These pulses induce a corresponding string of high voltage pulses in the ignition coil secondary winding for distribution to the engine spark plugs to allow at least temporary engine operation.
