  • Patent number: 5846493
Abstract: A system is provided for filtering a substance from a solution for subsequent analysis of the substance. The system has a manifold and a removable cover capable of latching onto a base defining an interior of the manifold. Apertures are formed in the cover capable of receiving columns having a filter for filtering the substance from the solution as solution is drawn through the columns into the manifold. The columns may be integrally formed to provide a set of columns. As a result, an array of apertures can receive a number of sets of columns to conduct the filtering process.

  • Patent number: 5287973
Abstract: A banana carrier, particularly a banana carrier is provided for transporting bananas on a plurality of trays from the picking fields to the packing area. The banana carrier is particularly adapted to be hung in rolling fashion on a cableway network arranged in the picking fields. The trays are arranged in stacked spaced apart fashion on the banana carrier. Each tray provides quarter panel sloped surfaces, circumscribed by drainage troughs which communicate to a drainage hole located in a central portion of each tray.

  • Patent number: 5044453
Abstract: A weighing instrument for the analysis of the weight-related characteristics of different materials has a pointer rotated about an axis in response to the weight of the material and which indicates a selected characteristic of the material on a selected graduated scale carried by an interchangeable slide. In the preferred embodiment, the weighing instrument is part of a diet control system also including an organized set of interchangeable slides each of which carries a number of concentric scales graduated in calories for respective food or drink items in a related food group. To facilitate handling of the slides, the slides are rigid and rectangular, and the weighing instrument has a rectangular slot for receiving and holding the slides under the force of their own weight. The pointer is protected by being carried on a circular disc and being covered by a viewing window which also serves to define the rectangular slot for receiving the slides.

  • Patent number: 5027974
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for dispensing cotton rolls. More particularly, this invention relates to an apparatus which may be supported on a work table, credenza, sideboard or the like in use in an operating room such as a dental operatory for readily supplying users such as dentists, surgeons, and assistants with absorbtive cotton rolls. The dispenser has a base which defines a delivery chute portion having horizontally spaced apart, upwardly directed surfaces, to which rolls are dispensed from a reservoir formed in part by a pair of planar lower wall portions, each lying on a plane parallel to said axis of rotation and diverging upwardly from a juncture line below the location of the axis of rotation of a dispensing wheel, and which direct rolls to the dispensing wheel which is mounted for rotation about a generally horizontal axis spaced above the delivery chute.

  • Patent number: 4886166
Abstract: A software storage case comprises a cover and a base which are pivotal with respect to one another to form an easel for supporting documentation. The cover includes a first section for storing flexible magnetic discs and the documentation, while the base includes structure for locating and storing cassettes. The cover and the base both include anti-pilferage devices for the flexible magnetic discs and the cartridges.

  • Patent number: 4773781
Abstract: A paper collection tray for a printer, particularly for fan-fold paper discharged from the printer, is supported in a variety of angular dispositions by a body carried on a leg structure. The body also carries first and second paper guides for directing the paper discharged from the printer toward the rear, upwardly and then forwardly for disposition on the paper collection tray. The body is vertically adjustable on the leg structure to accommodate various heights of printers, including printers using printer stands, and is horizontally adjustable with respect to printer depth.

  • Patent number: 4749295
Abstract: A paper catcher for a printer comprises a stand which may include a shelf, or supporting printer, a basically flexible duct forming an infeed chute and including lower flexible fingers for supporting the lower surface of the paper coming from the printer and a pivotal upper member for writing on the paper to prevent buckling. The paper then travels through a reversal chute and exits under the influence of a member riding thereon which overcome the natural tendency for the fan-fold paper to buckle upwardly instead of downwardly for depositing onto a paper collection tray mounted above and at an angle spaced from the printer so that the printer material may be read as it is being printed on the platen of the printer.

  • Patent number: 4635797
Abstract: A software package comprises a folded structure including a pair of molded, complemental sheets connected to a hinged base. The sheets have peripheral, complemental stair-step edges for closing the package with complemental, releasable latches. The software is sealed between one of the molded sheets and the base with access thereto being provided by way of a frangible flap, while the related information is either sealed behind the other molded sheet or is at least partially behind the other molded sheet and secured to the base. Both molded sheets are preferably constructed of a clear material for easy viewing by a perspective customer.

  • Patent number: 4497694
Abstract: Abrasive articles, such as finger nail files, are made by stamping a metal sheet to form a blank with a header strip having a plurality of spaced fingers depending therefrom, coating the fingers with a slurry of abrasive granules and flowable plastics material adhesive, curing the coating to anchor the abrasive particles to the fingers, vacuum depositing a thin strike coating of copper or copper alloy over the cured resin coating and then electro depositing a coating of nickel over the vacuum deposited copper. The abrasive granules are preferably aluminum oxide, the resin carrier for the granules is preferably an epoxide thermosetting resin, and the metal coatings are controlled to form thin sheaths around the resin coating leaving the peaks of the abrasive granules exposed or only covered with very thin coatings which break off or wear away when subjected to friction.
