  • Patent number: 4670950
Abstract: There is disclosed a theft-deterrent tag including a pair of elongated tag members movable between open and closed positions relative to each other. The tag includes a pair of frangible stress-sensitive containers each containing dye. Attempted unauthorized removal of the tag will cause the dye to spill onto merchandise positioned between the tag members. Each container is secured to a respective tag member and flexure of the tag member causes fracture. The elongate tag members are movably connected at one end portion and releasably locked at the other end portion to enable the dye to spill on the merchandise and to shield the thief from the dye. An improved magnetically releasable lock can hold the tag members in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 4050376
Abstract: There is disclosed selective printing apparatus comprising a stationary support, a drive wheel having both notches and knurling at its peripheral surface, and a printing band having a printing section and a non-printing human readable section the printing section having printing characters at its outer surface, and the human readable section having corresponding human readable indicia on its outer surface and lugs on its underside cooperable with the notches in the wheel. In one embodiment the printing section has knurling on its underside cooperable with the knurling on the wheel. In other embodiments, knurling on the wheel is cooperable with the smooth underside of the printing section.

  • Patent number: 4038725
Abstract: There are disclosed three embodiments of a fastener, a method of using a fastener, and a fragmentary portion of a mold. The fastener has a socket and a head joined by a flexible filament. The socket has a disc-shaped body, a transverse opening through the body, projections extending into the opening, and a post joined to each projection. The posts extend into the space within a side wall of the opening. The projections flex when the head is inserted through the opening, but the posts prevent attempted withdrawal of the head through the opening thereby preventing uncoupling of the head from the socket. The projections are so close that when the head is inserted into the socket, some of the plastics polymeric material of the projections deforms permanently, thereby work hardening the projections at the deformation. One of the fasteners has a head, a pair of relatively rigid sockets, a flexible hinge connecting the sockets to each other, and a flexible filament connecting the head and the pair of sockets.
