  • Publication number: 20170023182
Abstract: There is provided herein a pipeline closure which is machined as a single piece. In this embodiment, the pipeline closure comprises a door frame which is integral to a flange containing some number of holes for lug bolts along its periphery, the purpose of the holes being to provide a means of attaching the closure to the end of a pipe as is conventionally done. A door is positionable to be opened to allow access to the interior of the pipe or pressure vessel to which the quick opening closure is attached. Unlike prior art closures, the quick opening closure does not have a weld joint that is a potential weak point in the mechanism. Additionally, this embodiment does not require as much space to mount or attach as prior art closures.

  • Patent number: 8540103
Abstract: A closure for pressure vessels provides ease in access to the inside of a pressure vessel and at the same time provides a tight pressure seal for the closure. The closure for pressure vessels includes a hub adapted to fit on to an opening on the pressure vessel, a door connected to the hub, a hinge assembly to secure the door to the hub, and a locking assembly attached to the door. The locking assembly includes a slide lock operating around a central support, a plurality of locking lug arms radially operating around the central support, a pressure alert valve connected to the door, and a handle connected to the slide plate operating around the central support. The handle moves the locking assembly from a locking position to an unlocking position as the result of the groove pattern machined in the back of the slide plate.

  • Patent number: 4237936
Abstract: A pig trap closure is disclosed which includes a collar adapted to be attached to the end of a pipe, a door for opening and closing the end of the pipe, means for clamping the door to the collar and sealing means for preventing communication between the interior of the pipe and the atmosphere when the door is clamped to the collar. A testing valve is provided for indicating the presence of pressurized fluid in the pipe and means connects the testing valve to a handle used to unclamp the door for preventing movement of the handle until after the presence of pressurized fluid within the pipe has been checked by the testing valve.
